The regeneration repelling bullets did work - he couldn't regenerate his injuries, but he cannot die, which is why he can't stay down. You can see where he tries to push his arm back into the stump, despite it not healing/reconnecting, and his face continues to bleed from the bullet to the brain.

Fun fact: the name Ruth (traditionally a female name) means companion/friend. And Cartaphilus is an actual biblical entity (his name reveal made me have to take half an hour to process before continuing to read)

Fun fact! Like the first comment said Ruth has the VA for Tsukki, Oikawa is the same as Lindel, Daichi is Renfred (one armed guy), and the creepiest is Cartophilus. He has the same VA as Hinata. Its a Haikyu!! Reunion!

What I love about Chise and Ruth is instead of being a "witch with a black cat", its a "mage with a black dog". Which thinking about it, it's also a case of instead of a witch trying to regain her youth, its actually Chise trying to live to become old (the whole 'she has three years' thing).

Yeah, I gotta confess, this episode confused me for a bit - specifically how Chise conjuring up those tarantula hawks was a bad thing. I've kinda figured that maybe what she did was against the mages' "unspoken code" of only relying on other living beings to produce spells and magical effects. Or that maybe, by materializing living beings out of nothing, she was breaking some other unspoken rules that mages abide by and doing more of the "sorcerer" type thing - that is, breaking the laws of reality by generating something from nothing. But yeah, would love to hear anyone else's thoughts on the subject.
