And here I was gonna recommend AmaLee's version of the OP. You beat me to it. Also Tanya isn't really using divine power, the computation jewel really is just that good. It's like 2 generations ahead of its peers (imagine byplanes fighting against jets from the 50's and you get the idea). She just has to pray to get it to work without blowing up.

Also I would like to point out that Being X is a dick. He also is clearly neither omniscient nor omnipotent. I suspect he didn't realize that Tanya would have magic in this alternate world, but he is quick to take advantage of this to make her pray to him.

Tanya is almost as big a dick. She isn't evil. She isn't a psychopath, since she doesn't take actual pleasure in causing pain. She is, however, a sociopath, and thus totally lacking in empathy. For her, everything has to be done by the book.

No one but Tanya can use her type 95 jewel, but empire researchers make a slightly less powerful version, the type 93, and issue it to her squad; which is why they are also elite troops.
