Middle school. In episode 2 Onizuka got assigned to a Junior High class. Which would put Murai's mom 26ish

Junior high is not middle school. No such thing in Japan. They are in lower secondary school, which is ages 12 to 15. They are year 3 seniors since they are 14 to 15 year olds in the class.

Well, he said Murai's mom would be 26, so he seems to think Murai is 13. Since Murai is 15, and his mom gave birth at 13, that means Murai's mom is 28.
