As someone who participated in the intense sport of wrestling, i know exactly what caleb means about that experience after the second wind. I always described it as my mind sort of going numb and the notion of fatigue kind of disappears. Kinda feels like you start pushing the limits of your potential but you still feel like you could go even further

just fyi... the manga after s3 is so damn good. like,,, when s4, s5 come out they'll probably be my favorite

Kageyama has been subbed out with Suga before during the game with Seijoh in season 1, and then re-subbed back in. Not 100% sure if this was during the same set, but I'm fairly certain it was.

From the beginning of the series, Sugawara, Daichi, and Asahi stated that their end goal was to "make it to nationals" and not necessarily "win nationals." It's even consistent with this episode that their senpai wanted them to go to nationals. This is in contrast to Hinata and Kageyama who declared they'd become number one in the world early on in season one. It's just my prediction but I think this was purposely set up so then whenever the third years do have to leave, it's not as devastating. Meanwhile, Hinata and Kageyama might win internationally as the endgame of the manga. Sadly though, most sports manga don't run long enough to show the characters competing internationally. Most of them stop at nationals or interhigh. The exception to this would be Hajime no Ippo which is nearing 1250 chapters / 30 years of serialization and has Ippo fighting other countries. Who knows with Haikyu though?

Eyeshield21, Hikaru no Go and Major have international competition arcs. But, yeah, it's rare. And I hope to see our boys to compete at the world stage. Escpecially because in manga Hinata was mentioning the Olympic games. :)

Haha, you know what's really sad? I've seen both Eyeshield 21 and Hikaru no Go but don't remember the two of them having international arcs at all. I might be wrong but I don't recall either of those shows really dabbling around with nationals for a long time nor having the main characters struggling to make it to the top in their country before moving on to international competition. They were just there already. It's definitely not as impactful as Hajime no Ippo or the route Haikyuu seems to be taking. Kageyama and Hinata at Olympics is the true dream, for them and us.
