angel

sad fun fact but that final line by ukai was the voice actors last recorded line before he passed

nismapauliina

Jacob is that Erwin's bolo tie??

Jo

RIP Ukai VA :(

The bros are so focused on the story going with Suga, Daichi and Asahi leaving they don't even consider what could go on if the team gets to nationals, the teams they could face for example. Also poor Jacob has to fight so much to get his point not shut down by Caleb haha, I totally get what he means. Can't wait for next 2 episodes, gonna miss the reactions for sure but the finale is perfect.

If you love Haikyuu and GTO, you should watch Slam Dunk if you haven't already. That anime is basically a mix of those two. You'll find Haikyuu follows some of the same story beats as in Slam Dunk.

If you watch to the end of the reaction, I inserted an image revealing that to them.

Omg they didn’t stomp Seijoh Jacob 😂 It was a good win, but it went to 3 sets and the final point was scored on the tiniest of margins xD Anyway, fun to see you guys disagreeing! I’m.... on both of your sides, tbh, because I’ve got the benefit of being on the outside looking in, but man if they were to lose I’d totally be on the Jacob-wagon of ultimate ‘but Tsukki was injured!!’ saltiness lmao. Ukai’s final line still gave me chills (and all the feels T-T), and I’m looking forward to Daichi’s earthbending next ep :)

MVP. Wish they addressed it in the discussion more, but maybe during the next 2 eps when the new VA comes in :)

Lol interesting discussion, especially about the role that random chance has played in Karasuno's matches. Both Caleb and Jacob made a lot of good arguments about it, but objectively speaking (especially after several rewatches), you can't deny that it's been a huge factor in their games, particularly this one and the previous one with Seijoh. Logically speaking, Seijoh/Shiratorizawa are established powerhouse teams that would probably win 9/10 times. However, Karasuno makes up for this by taking risks as a team and steadfastly going for those crazy maneuvers that the other teams don't consider, because it's something they hadn't deemed necessary in order for them to achieve victory before. Karasuno didn't crush Seijoh by any means, it was incredibly close. However in these matches it's the accumulation of the little points made here and there, some by intuition, some by "chance," that makes all the difference in the end. Many of the points made were high risk, high reward, and may or may not play out similarly in a rematch. Of course Karasuno put in a bunch of effort and thus their progress/victory was "deserved," but the other teams have as well, and certain members more than others on both sides. It's just that we get to see Karasuno's efforts firsthand so it's easier to be biased towards them. Ultimately, Karasuno is presented as a team that is still constantly developing, and that in itself suggests that there is still great room for improvement. I find that the more I take a step back, the more amazed I am at how this story has been woven together and how they've managed to plausibly come this far xD

This was Ukai Jr.'s original voice actor's final episode of Haikyuu--and what an incredible final line he delivered to rally his team's spirits! R.I.P. Kazunari Tanaka. Your talent and soul are sorely missed.

On Shiratorizawa's coach backstory, I believe the "if you can't beat them, join them" is his thinking. So for him, he accepts that regardless of how skilled a short player is, they will be crushed by a skilled tall player. When he thinks on wanting a player that indisputably takes out everything in his path (paraphrased) he looks to Hinata because he wants Ushijima to take down Karasuno and prove that a skilled tall player always wins against a skilled short (Hinata) player. Just as his coach told him way back when. Great reaction guys and discussion - Tsukki is back and Kageyama had some of that Oikawa sexiness in that serve XD

I love your reactions to Haikyuu but I'm disappointed that you haven't talked about Suga, in this game, at all :(

aoblock

i always saw it as being closer to how shiratorizawa's setter felt about it, its not just that he resigned to the fact height and power are extremely powerful. But those were also the types of players he looked up to, he didnt WANT to fight like Hinata does, he wanted the height and strength to play how he wanted. and he wants wants ushijima to prove that's the best way to win.

Are you guys watching the other Haikyuu OVA??

I totally love your comment. It is so true that Karasuno is still developing (a lot tho), some of their points and moments they have earned could be risky. But they did it! Sooo proud of ma boiiiiiii. Like even Kageyama is such a gold he is still young and growing and although his serves are good and strong but he doesnt have a good control as the coach from Seijou said earlier beforehand in previous seasons. When I hear some comments that people treating the other teams except Karasuno as if they are villains it breaks my heart (like Ive heard some reactors and comments calling Tendo fxxking pussy). I mean Shiratorizawa has been winning the first prize for so long years and even Seijou couldnt defeat them. that fully explains how much effort theyve been putting and how much good they are.

Always good reactions Thank you for sharing:) I dont know if you guys know but if you are interested plz compare Kageyama and Oikawa’s pose when they serve. Kageyama self taught his serve by looking at and imitating Oikawa’s serve when they were in junior high. So junior high schooler Oikawa and Kageyama’s current serve poses are identical. But Oikawa practiced more since then. so now his jump is higher and more stable than Kageyama. That is why I am soooooo excited to see future Kage-serves.

Exactly! The characters themselves, and by extension the teams, are the driving force behind what makes this show so great. I feel like people are missing out if they only focus on Karasuno because they're the main characters/"underdogs" and it's easier to empathize with and cheer for them because of how we actually get to see all of their training and them working hard to improve. Admittedly I was one of those people when I watched Haikyuu for the first time, but you get so much more out of it by shifting perspectives to opposing teams too and thinking about how each of them came together and how they also must've worked to reach where they are (and now it's some of those teams that are actually my favorite lol)
