In Polish translation of the manga, all the ora oras are translated and it doesn't look silly, just very boyish, which I think fits perfectly and shows that Jotaro's not such a coolcat like he thinks. Whenever I watch the anime, I find oraoras a bit stupid in subs. Hearing them is great, but what are they doing in the subtitles? They're not part of English language, nor Polish. So, hard disagree, even though I started with oraoraoras and they always took me out of the fight at first, as I was wondering whether Jotaro is swearing or making a battlecry. I was spending the whole ora barrages wondering that. Ooops? Sorry, might be my bad as a translator (not Japanese, I don't know Japanese), but I'd leave no word 'untranslated' if anybody asked me. (clarification: if, say, Giorno said something in Italian while speaking in Japanese, that should be left in Italian while translating his Japanese into Polish/English/Russian/German/whateverlanguage. That's what I mean. But everything he says in Japanese? translated in sub and dub, pretty pls. but that's just my opinion, here.)

Welp, it’s finally out 😆

They didn't even translate "Muda" in your version of the subs? Lazy.

Daniel Salgado

Is not lazy, is on purpose. They already explain in the previous episode that muda means useless. They didn't translate it because is like a battle cry, Jotaro has his oraora and Dio has his mudamuda. But I'm susprised that they didn't translate that but instead they translated Hamon as Ripple. I didn't like that.

Fuya

Muda needs no translation in this case. If it does, then they should translare "Ora ora ora" to "Booya booya booya!" or something like that too, which would be silly.

TheWerdna

Can we all appreciate the fact that Dio's ability being time stop means the whole stairs situation with Polnareff was literally just Dio stopping time and physically moving him back down the stairs?

Heart of Steel

When DIO says "muda", it should be translated. DIO yelling "muda" is not a stand cry, it's literally a person saying a word.

@Jett Rainbow well I didn't know that you can call it 'stand cry' but the internet doesn't seems to agree with you. All the sites I checked consider muda muda as a stand cry.

Doofus

And then returning to his original spot and posing in the same manner as before time stop to pretend he didn’t move and was just relaxing all cool lol

Rortyry

He could have sent his stand down to do it for him while he stood there.

TheWerdna

Probably, but I prefer to imagine Dio giggling as he runs up and down the stairs, getting into the exact same pose.

Sean Mumford

I really appreciate the extent Dio goes through specifically just to fuck with Polnareff instead of just instantly murdering him.

RandomStandoTsukai

I know the Bros are probably aware of this by now, but as to DIO's "5 seconds" it's best to think of it as "5 seconds of energy of movement" so talking uses very little energy, while, running, for instance, would use a lot more. This is also why Jotaro can stop time for a far shorter time period, as he is human. So he can stop time infinitely, but only remain conscious and move a set amount. That's how I see it, anyway.
