Akihabara is honestly both way too weird and way too awesome but going to a maid cafe for the first time is literally the most awkward experience of my life. Having to wear cat ears and "sing a spell" with the waitress to apparently make the food taste better level of awkward.

Loved Akihabara but just could not pull the pin and go to a maid cafe. Maybe if I was fluent in Japanese it would slightly lessen the awkwardness, but, yea I couldent do it.

I speak enough to order food and other basic stuff but the waitress was just going off with nyah sounds and other stuff that was way to awkward for me to even focus on what was being said. Basically it turned into a sort of unintentional staring contest with the waitress until me and the guys I was with said a few phrases with nyah's at the end. I can't recommend going to one unless your into casting cat spells on food.
