I'm not sure what version of this you're watching, but when Haru tells Legoshi she doesn't accept "favors" from men she's slept with, it's translated as "pity" and "mercy" in the manga and the Netflix subs and dubs. Same as when she rejects help hauling her mattress back upstairs to her room. It's not manipulative behavior as you said. It's about not wanting to be treated as small and weak. This is a fairly major theme for her, and translating it as "favors", gives a very incorrect impression of Haru and what motivates her.

I assume most reactors are downloading it so it's easier to edit their videos. And also cause there was a delay between the Netflix Japan release, and the US release. Which is understandable, but it's been a VERY long time since most fansubs were better than the official ones. And in this case, the fansubs end up badly mischaracterizing Haru.

For what it's worth, I believe I watched the same sub, because I remember it being translated as "favours" too. But I always just assumed she just didn't want pity, especially from those men. So much so that I actually didn't notice the dub corrected it until now!

i had the same subs and despite that I dont think I got the wrong interpretation. I feel Haru's themes are layed on so heavily that its hard to misinterpret, but maybe thats just me.
