Jacob said that it's a good thing no else heard him say that, but we've already seen Yang take that stance when he was being questioned by the inquiry committee in ep 31, when he said " People may need societies, but they do not necessarily need 'nations'." No one in the Alliance can do shit to Yang, if he gets fired then it's all over for them. If anything, back in the inquiry Yang was actually trying to get them to fire him, since he was so sick of their shit, but even then they still couldn't and ended up freeing him and begging for him to defend Iserlohn Fortress from Imperial invasion.
