Hayama's and Yukino's families know each other, remember? Mentioned in S1 on the field trip when Hachiman finds Yukino out in the woods after dark.

I always felt like Hachiman's deal was that he thought he was an outsider and had nothing to lose, which is why he's so willing to do embarrassing things or make himself out to be the bad guy. I don't think he takes any pleasure in doing these things, the opposite actually. He Just feels like he's so used to it at this point that if someone has to do it, it might as well be him. He sees no issue with doing things this way because he feels like he cant fall any lower so there's really no downside, completely missing how it might effect others.

The drink 8man was originally going for (the yellow one) is MAX coffee, a very sweet drink he loves (mentioned a lot in the novel) but he decided to get a dark coffee this episode instead.

That's certainly a big part of *how* he does the things he does, but it isn't the reason *why* he does them. Hachiman despises the corrupt system of social interaction that burned him so many times, and he hates the superficiality that goes with it. He blames society for what's happened to him and takes immense pride in carrying on by himself, because that way he can continue believing that he's just the unfair victim of the system. "I've done nothing wrong, so why should I be the one to change?" "It's everyone else's fault." Every time he succeeds in his endeavours by exploiting that system, he's proving just how shallow everyone else is, and affirming his conviction that it's perfectly acceptable to be alone, because at least when he's alone there are no lies or falsehoods. He refuses to believe that there's something wrong with what he's doing because that would be the same as throwing away all of his convictions and beliefs. He's just trying to do the best he can by himself, and he won't let anyone deny that or call him out on it.
