yeah, the movie makes things just confusing, only the flashback of the movie that happened at the beginning was referenced at the start of this ep with the text "the dragon head conflict" (dazai and chuuya are 16, now in this flashback they are 15) while the rest of the movie happens in the present time the movie is pretty much a stand alone! it's not a set up, at most it's a tease for fyodor's character, I kinda just ignored it lol because it doesn't tie to the main plot/manga, it's not gonna help trying to see connections there, that's why I wasn't very keen on you watching it before s3... yes please just ignore it if it unnecessarily confuses you lol, thank you this ep was mostly an exposition dump because it's from a light novel, plus it doesn't cover the whole plotline since there's a second LN continuing this story so it's gonna be a bit confusing at first

No, don't ignore the movie. The movie might be a bundle of confusion but it does tie into some things in the actual series. Like in season 3, when Louisa goes to the slums you can see the tower in the background destroyed because of what happened in the movie. The movie was also important to character development, like Kyouka trying to come to terms with demon snow which continues on into season 3. It's tiny things but the movie isn't irrelevant.
