Fellas, find someone who can trust you as much as the Bros trust Shigure..

There's a specific episode that I'm really interested in seeing you react to, and you're almost there.

Bless all the Tohru/Kyo moments in the beach arc

IDK if it's funny or sad ..the really trying hard to come up with excuses to defend him .. like anime only fans from the original show lost hop at him at this point .. new fans had no trust in him to began with it (I didn't) .. and the show, the characters and ost are giving them another story .. but they go Nope he is a good boy ..🤦😀😂👌❤️😍

It really is honestly wild how you guys are just immediately jumping to defending Shigure. This isn’t me trying to say you’re right or wrong. But I’ve seen quite a few people with similar reactions, and it always confused me. Again, this isn’t hinting at anything, just going with what we have been presented so far. I mean, look at how you guys felt about Hiro vs how you’ve felt about Shigure. When in reality, between the two, Shigure has already been worse. For one thing Hiro is just a child lashing out. For another, I don’t say that about Shigure just because of the scheming behind the scenes or making inappropriate comments to Tohru (and about young girls in general) but the fact that he is a grown ass adult doing those things with little care about the effect it has on the people around him, as long as he gets what he wants. Add in Shigure outright saying multiple times that he isn’t a good person, and things are even more blatant. To be clear, I’m saying this as someone who thinks he is a very interesting character. But I’ve never been able to get why some people seem to insist - with what we have seen so far - that he’s actually a good guy or whatever. Because part of what has made him fascinating to watch so far is that he’s very up front about all of these things. That he can admit to sometimes feeling a little guilty because of people like Tohru, but not enough to stop what he’s doing. And in this episode, he deliberately instigates things with Akito to get him to come to the beach house, not knowing what could happen but also knowing it could result in physical harm to any of the kids. When I was reading the manga for the first time, I didn’t think Shigure had good intentions. I knew he had some goal but from everything he had done so far it seemed pretty selfish. So when he’s talking about how he’s a bad person, my response was to go: “Yeah, makes sense. Call a spade a spade.” So again, no hints for what’s to come. But at this stage I’m always admittedly left scratching my head when some first time viewers are so convinced of Shigure’s potential good intentions that they kind of ignore what the story is literally trying to tell them, with the dialogue and the music and the framing of the shots. Lol, idk, It’s kinda funny.

Anime only here, and my read the manga girlfriend have been enjoying their reactions to the show so much. Episode 9 and 10 need to hurry.

Not as funny as you writing three paragraphs over something that's "idk, kinda funny." lmao

You can really kind of see Tohru in a new light, how Yuki is revealed to feel about her in the science where she is covering up the kids. Rewatching this with you guys is really opening my eyes to some of the hints of the show.

This episode is so amazing this feels like it will have a lot of significance to the story going forward. I really love how we have the fun and heartwarming stuff in this episode when Akito shows up because the characters and us as the audience need it to prepare. Tohru feeling insecure/anxious about how the others might feel about her talking about her mother when they have complicated family situations makes sense but it’s sad because she’s afraid of bringing it up. The watermelon scene is hilarious but I just feel bad for her. The way Tohru cares for the younger kids is what love truly looks like and unfortunately it’s not something the Soma’s are used to. Yuki needing time by himself sort out his thoughts/feelings only makes sense with what he has gone through in the show so far. I love how we get such special moments between Tohru & Yuki/Kyo in the same episode since the relationships of these 3 mean so much to the overall story and are just so emotionally impactful. It’s so nice to see how much Kyo is paying attention to her it’s really heartwarming and shows a deep love for her no matter what kind of love it is. Seeing their talk about her mother and family stuff fills me with joy and Kyoko is still the best. Also this conversation really shows the trust Kyo has in Tohru. The way the tone completely changes once Akito shows up is so good but chilling especially the lighting. I do agree that a lot of the characters reactions are relief that Tohru will be safe from Akito I think it is also preparing themselves for him. I definitely think the Shigure stuff was meant to confirm you’re not supposed to trust him but I do respect the purity of your trust in him and I understand why you think this from a story standpoint as well and I do think he’s constantly pissed at Akito. The scene with Yuki on the beach is so beautiful especially because to me it purposefully is difficult to tell whether it’s the middle of the night, day or at sunset because of the lightning and the moonlight shining through (come to think of it moonlight represents Yuki in some ways) and I love the meteor shower. I love how he is very clear about how important she is to him and it really shows how much he's changed and the trust he has in her wanting a heart-to-heart even if he’s self-aware enough to know he’s not ready for it yet and no matter what his feelings end up being the caring goes deep. Yeah I agree that not completely focusing on the stuff with Akito is to show him being unimportant in a lot of ways to the characters growth/development. I love seeing how excited and engaged with the show you guys are. It’s funny and sad that you guys needed so little time to talk about Akito because of how pitiful a character he really is. And the twisted thing is he actually thinks he loves the zodiac members and that they love him. Your discussions are always so insightful and my favorite part of this 1 was talking about Yuki. Everything about this episode is so emotionally fantastic. Also your reactions and discussions really help me think of the episodes even more deeply and that’s awesome. I really loved hearing about the direction Jacob wants and thinks the show is heading some great imagery he conjured there. This is a really great reaction. Keep up the great work. :-) <3
