I really love the reaction and the discussion of the bros... Also, I want to protect Mafuyu badly!! The drama starts next episode... BTW, it is Mafuyu's VA who sang the ED "Marutsuke" :) (Yano Shougo)

This episode is definitely a set up episode. The hook you with EP3 then slow down for EP4 before ramping up the story. And the slight different feel to this episode could be because the whole "date" to buy the distortion pedal was actually anime only. In the manga Uenoyama talks to Mafuyu about going to buy it and that's it, only about 6 panels worth in the manga. Even though it is anime only content the production team did a very nice job integrating this anime only content into this episode. One of the things I love about Given is the use of real locations that our band goes to. It gives the anime a very grounded feel to it.
