Well done on the correct Shorter prediction! You'll be surprised to know he shaved his mohawk rather quickly in the manga to avoid Arthur's guys. Might be under the 'rule of cool', but he does have backstory explored in the manga ;) Loving the discussion about Max and Ash's complicated dynamic together and both of them being flawed in some way. These relationships (platonic, romantic, or deeply unhealthy) are crucial to the series. It's why I call this a shojo, action heavy and full of thriller-based tension as it is. Wondering what you'll think about that statement, that Ash and Eiji's relationship isn't the focus of the plot. It's actually fairly debatable, but I can see your minds possibly changing halfway (E12/E13) or so. The ongoing conflicts and resolutions between characters is honestly the series emotional lifeblood. But that plot with the titular MacGuffin is pretty interesting too. Keep those notes handy, all your questions will be eventually addressed!
