*minor spoiler* Take-chan also rejected Haruki’s relationship with Akihiko in the manga! He had the same exact reaction as Uenoyama :-)

This OVA might feel "fragmented" because it's actually stuff that takes place during the same timeline of the Given movie (so Mafuyu is writing the lyrics at Ugetsu's place, while Kaji was still living there at first, etc.). This is why, in the after-credits, you can see Kaji asking for Uenoyama’s blessings, because that’s when Haruki and him finally got together. Also, the song Mafuyu sings is the same as in the movie, but they chose an a cappella moment here. I do wish they’d given us a proper 90 min. movie with the full manga adaptation, but I believe there were issues with covid, etc., so they chose to focus on the relationship between the older guys in the first film. I’m not sure if there will be enough material for a season 2 yet though. I’m a manga reader, and I think there’s enough material for another movie maybe? The problem is that the manga is really good, but it’s published ridiculously slowly compared to weekly manga like MHA, etc., so I’m not sure how they’ll choose to adapt the current arc in the future. But I’m sure there will definitely be another adaptation, because the manga is still very popular from what I can tell.
