A small funny tidbid from the novels that makes Kaido's surprise at Rimuru's appearance even bigger. Originally in the novels Rimuru jokingly told/trolled Kaido during their debate when they met and to quote him "By the end of our intensive debate, I had just about an entire novel’s worth of backstory. A story about a forlorn young (and beautiful) girl, brutally transformed into a slime by an evil mage." So while he likely didn't believe it back then, now suddenly Rimuru appeared before him in the form of what is regularly recognized as a young girl by those that don't know him, suddenly giving his completely made up backstory seemingly concrete evidence. BTW all that is happening right now in the first few episodes is stuff that they cut out in Season 1 at the end, it' all stuff from Vol.4 that should have happened before Rimuru went to save the kids, that why he is now moving back and forth between the school and Tempest even though he already said his goodbyes as teacher at the end of Season 1.

I dont know if you (the bros) are aware but what we are seeing right now is basically a catchup of what happened between charybdis and the final arc with the children in the first season. Basically a ton of skipped content which is more or less important to what is coming next (never understood why they did that... maybe not expecting a season 2?)
