I almost gave up on seeing this before I hit the bed, but it's here! Merry Christmas!

Yolo Samurai

Just to be clear, Rimuru did say in the war meaning that he would be attacking the main army by himself as it was necessary for him to do so (meaning to acquire demon lord status).

Cherno Alpha

it's HERE! one of my favorite, most cathartic episodes of the series

Shaun McDonough

The one who killed Shion IS with the army that Rimuru is attacking. He went back to the main army so Rimuru is correct in saying they are the ones who killed Shion. The one who killed Shion IS the Knight who is with Razen btw.

Can't wait for next episode

Good ol' Caleb remembering things that were never said. Great episode.

Youmu Senju

those knights are literally the ones who killed his people. i don't know what's confusing you.

He said that, but it's actually not necessary for him to do it himself.

In the novel the three Otherworlders were used as tragic moral tales. Shogo, before he was isekaied, was basically a tough guy who studied martial arts, Kyoya was basically a con man, and Kirara was a spoiled somewhat shallow teenage girl who loved her parents. When they got to this world they were the strongest around them, and it went to their heads. Their worst qualities became more obvious. In particular Kirara never believed the new world was real, so killing was ok. In addition Shogo had noticed when he accidentally killed someone in training that it had made him stronger. It made him want to kill more. Kirara was stronger and had a Unique Skill, so he gained a new Skill when he killed her. His new Skill reflected what he most wanted at the time. Words of the World carries out the laws of the world and people will hear it when they gain a Skill or evolve. It sounds like Great Sage, bit it's not. Magic users can precast spells that only require a trigger. Folgen is actually an Otherworlder who's been there long enough to be friends with Razen. One of the things his Skill can do is to take a limited number of Skills from people who die in front of him. Rimuru's black smoke always manifests when he needs to create more mass than his body naturally has, he collects this from the environment. Razen, when he possessed Shogo's body, actually had to spend time physically preparing Shogo's brain to be overwritten by Razen's memories. Shogo's Skills must have been attached to his body rather than his soul for Razen to be able to inherit them. Skills attached to the soul are stronger.

The confusion is that the Other Worlders who instigated the brawl went in the opposite direction of the Knight Captain that actually got the killing blow on Shion. The Captain went back to the rest of the army while the otherworlders went in the direction that the monsters would retreat to.

The anime will never explain this but Rimuru cast the same spell that Myulan did: Anti-Magic Area. It prevents the use/effects of spellcasting but Skills can still be used. Megido is a clever combination of spirit manipulation, water manipulation, and light manipulation to create concentrated sunbeams. It all follows the natural laws of physics so a spell isn’t required to keep it going, therefore it can be used even while all spells are being countered. Normally impossible to aim but Great Sage is a terrifying Skill.

to expand on the skills ... while Skills often reflect desire/will unique skills are attached to the body most of the time and can be taken / stolen / copied etc, well this is the case for primarily material beings or semi-spiritual evolving from them ... like humans or the majority of monsters and even a large part of majin ... it is only skills beyond unique and or a being that is or has reached a state of spiritual being that has all of its skills attached to its soul - see Veldora and his original unique skill .... But since they are also a reflection of a personality / will / character ... taking Unique skills for oneself while giving you that skill does not mean you can operate it the same way as the original creator you need to first make it yours connect it to your will and then fully master it, which is also the case for those that attain a skill just because you get one does not meant you can utilize it 100% unless you have some kind of support like an analysis or computation skill to help you ...

Diablo8x

not the opposite just different the army is basically coming from north west from Farmus ... while the otherwolders were sent to the western base to cut of the route to Bulmund...

This is a general semi-rant that I 'm not directing towards you, because my understanding is close to yours, but I wonder where some of people's ideas about this story come from. When I asked one person where he found his info, he said from the wiki. I also see YouTube videos purporting to explain the power system or what different skills do or whatever. I mean how do we know these theories are correct? Even after having read the light novels more than once, I don't know where all these people got their theories or information. I haven't read the web novel because I have heard it went off on a quite different direction from the light novels, according to the author himself, and the anime is supposed to be based on the light novels. I have also read the manga. The manga came after the latter so I can see incorporating manga content into my understanding to some degree, though. So I get frustrated and lose my confidence that I understood the concept correctly when people seem more certain than I about details in the source material that I thought weren't explained fully, or even always consistently. I mean even the author isn't sure about his maintaining great continuity. Aren't things open to interpretation more often than it would seem if you took all these confident-sounding explanations at face value? Or, besides the source material, is there really someplace where you can trust what the information there is "official"? Can someone explain this to me?

I haven't read them, but there's supposed to be a volume 8.5 and a 13.5 that are both side story collections and databooks, maybe people are using those as sources.

About the line about Reincarnation, it's a mistranslation. The actual line is "Next to my teacher's Reincarnation (magic(implied)), Possession (magic(spell)) is mere child's play."
