Chapter 463: Sinister Plot
Luo slowly put down the teacup, glanced at the suddenly pale Clover, and then looked at Salin. Without speaking, he raised his hand and drew Salin's teacup into his palm from a distance.
Seeing this scene, Clover's cheek muscles twitched slightly. He knew this risky move was going to fail. His hand, hidden under the table, slowly reached for a button.
If he knew nothing about Luo's strength, even if he was exposed just now, with his composure, he wouldn't easily show fear.
It was Luo's display of power last night that put pressure on him, so the meaningful words just now touched his emotions.
"Enough people died last night. If you don't want more deaths, don't act rashly."
Luo held Salin's teacup and glanced at Clover. Just the slight release of his aura made the experienced Clover feel cold all over, his hand reaching for the button stiffened.
"What? Is there something wrong with the tea?"
Salin frowned, her gaze shifting between the two. From Luo's words, she sensed something was amiss.
"Yes."
Luo nodded, dipping his finger into the tea, discerning the contents through the White Smoke Font. Even Salin's cup contained something.
"Zombie powder, a colorless and tasteless drug that causes the body to stiffen completely within half an hour, rendering the user immobile. Am I right, Mr. Clover?" Luo's gaze turned slightly cold as he looked at Clover.
If the effect of zombie powder was not just immobilization, with no physical harm, he would have done more than just apply psychological pressure on Clover.
Mainly, Luo guessed that Clover drugged him because he discovered Luo had secretly taken three treasures last night. If so, Clover was at fault.
Clover struggled to control his emotions, but the twitching muscles on his cheeks betrayed him.
Is this the fearsome aspect of a seasoned hunter?
He identified the zombie powder in the tea before the drug took effect.
Clover took a deep breath. His hand was less than a palm's distance from the button under the table, but he dared not move recklessly.
Even if he called the nearby guards, it would only add to meaningless casualties, and he would likely be the first to die.
"I underestimated you."
A trace of fear flashed across Clover's face.
"Salin, come here."
Luo expanded his En. Within his sensing range, there were only two other servants in the room, and no guards were ambushed nearby, indicating Clover was gambling big.
No guards meant the risk he bore was highest, but it also lowered the target's vigilance, increasing the success rate. However, his target was Luo, destined to fail with this method.
Salin glanced at Clover, frowned, and walked over to Luo.
Luo placed his hand on her, extracting the zombie powder from her body and casually throwing it at the two servants in the room.
After doing this, Luo slowly looked at Clover and said indifferently, "If it weren't for me, you would have died last night. Is this how you treat your benefactor?"
Perhaps feeling desperate, Clover barely stabilized his turbulent emotions, glaring coldly at Luo and said, "The people last night were from the Phantom Troupe, and you have a close relationship with them."
"Close relationship?" Luo raised an eyebrow.
Clover sneered, "Finding this out isn't hard. Or do you want to deny it, Master Luo of the Heavens Arena?"
Luo fell silent upon hearing this. Clover had indeed discovered a lot, hence his suspicion that last night's actions by the Phantom Troupe were connected to Luo, leading him to act urgently.
It turned out that the small oversight of not wearing a mask when going to the museum last night was the biggest mistake. But in fact, he did dissuade the Troupe and helped Clover preserve many of the museum's collections.
Moreover, such reasoning was full of holes. It was not enough to make Clover so impatient; perhaps there were other reasons.
"So you think the Phantom Troupe's attack on the Ohara Museum last night is related to me?" he asked.
"Yes," Clover replied coldly.
"If so, why didn't the Phantom Troupe take away the tied-up collections?" Luo asked calmly.
Clover's eyes narrowed slightly, speechless.
"If so, why did I shield you from the knives and forks last night? Wouldn't things be simpler if you died?" Luo continued.
Clover's expression changed slightly, his hands on his knees slowly clenched. Being questioned to this extent revealed the weakness of his motives.
"You don't have to speak. I have my ways to make you talk," Luo said with a nonchalant smile.
That calm smile made even the experienced Clover feel an involuntary chill.
Moments later, Clover suddenly reached into his pocket and pulled out a silenced handgun.
Salin's expression turned cold, ready to act first to stop Clover. However, Luo placed a hand on her, keeping her in place.
While Salin was puzzled, Clover raised the gun and shot the two servants in the room.
The silenced shots were barely audible. The two bullets precisely exploded the heads of the servants, splattering blood on the wall behind them.
Thud.
The bodies slowly fell to the ground, making a sound.
Luo and Salin watched this scene in silence.
Clover, expressionless, put away the gun and said, "Someone wants to harm you. I have no right to refuse."
"Who?" Luo asked.
"A high-ranking official from the Begrose United Nations, Morin Eddy."
"Oh?"
Luo raised his eyelids. He didn't know this person but had a vague idea.
Clover looked at him and said solemnly, "Their task for me was to use zombie powder to immobilize you, then someone would come to take you away. As for Salin, their order was to dispose of her directly."
Luo suddenly moved.
Clover only saw a shadow, and the next second, Luo returned to his seat, now holding a beating heart.
"This is your heart."
Luo said, lightly squeezing it.
Clover groaned, his face turning pale.
Luo used minimal force, enough not to cause Clover too much pain but to make him realize the harsh reality.
"Don't worry, as long as you behave, your life is temporarily safe."
Luo sealed the heart in a book, got up, and leaped out the window, instructing Salin to watch Clover before he left.
Outside, Luo jumped to the palace roof in a few leaps, expanding his En to its maximum range, a diameter of over two hundred meters.
"Not here."
After a scan, he found nothing. Luo looked toward another palace-like building, where the servants and staff of the Ohara Museum lived.
