1926 Bugatti T39a v0.8 Early Access Release! - Assetto Corsa (Patreon)
Content
The 1.5 liter Grand Prix rule change was a massive boon for Bugatti... Alfa Romeo refused to redesign the P2, and thus did not enter any races. Meanwhile, Delage had just launched its 15S8, which was the only real challenge to Bugatti in 1926. However, nothing could stop Bugatti from barnstorming their way to the 1926 championship. It began in April with a 1, 2, 3 finish in the Targa Florio, and continued across the season, where Bugatti would take victory in all of the major grand prix events... Bugatti secured victories at the French Grand Prix at Miramas, the European & Spanish Grand Prixes at Lasarte, and finally the Italian & Milan Grand Prixes at Monza. The British GP at Brooklands would be the one major Grand Prix where Delage would play spoiler.. and even then when Bugatti didn't have the outright pace to match, they still secured a second place finish due to the Bugatti's reliability and problem free run compared to the rest of the field (with the T39a working its way through the field as other cars spent valuable time in the pits). Overall, Bugatti would win 15 of the 26 historically significant grand prix races held in 1926.
