Hey folks! Nice and simple Typical Tuesday Suggestions thread, this time for Vanilla Vehicles Expanded - Upgrades!

Give me your ideas for upgrades for the Tier 2 vehicles we have in our mods. Here's a couple of pointers:

  • We want each Tier 2 vehicle to have at most 3 different upgrades. They won't be as upgradable as Tier 1s.

  • We want these upgrades to be very specific, but not as strong as the Tier 1 upgrades.

  • These upgrades should not be mutually exclusive.

Imo a lot of the tier two vehicle upgrades could take inspiration from cartel armored cars, like slapping a turret on the back of the roadrunner or covering the snatcher with armored plates.

Given your bullet points, I'd say don't bother with the obvious stat increasing upgrades we saw in abundance with tier 1. Something that adds new functionality would be far more interesting. With this is mind, I thought of... Roadrunner - machine gun platform Trawler - fishing crane Mosquito - barrel bombs, searchlight Smuggler - crop duster Wisent - missile launcher conversion

Adding additional functionality is always good - A HMG on the Bulldog, Smokepop cannisters on the Tango, mounting a weapon on the back of the Roadrunner. In particular Tier 2 doesn't have any artillery vehicles - So possibly an upgrade could allow for that. Being able to mount a MRLS or some other artillery peice on the Wisent at the cost of reducing it's passenger and cargo capacity, for instance. Something I think would be really cool, but I don't know if it works with your balance objectives, would be passive enhancements to caravans - Say adding a cooking station that prevents pawns getting any ate raw food debuffs, some beds in the Snatcher so it carries a couple less people but they get better resting, medical equipment stowed in the Wagon that improves tend quality. That sort of sideways functionality might make people want to keep Tier 2s in their fleet even once they've got all the Tier 3s. One thing that would be especially useful is something that provides an additional source of recreation for pawns in caravans, if that's feasible.

Wagon: -armored windows -chain wheels (better terrain traversal) -engine upgrade (big exhaust and engine intake) Roadrunner: -Rear mounted turret (possibly with rear truck top) -armored windows -engine upgrade Snatcher: -Armored windows -Deer guard (reduces vehicle damage from hitting things) -chain wheels (terrain traversal) Charley: -engine upgrade -front mounted shotgun turret -rear passenger seat or cargo bags Trawler: -Fishing nets (if fish expanded is installed, allows the trawler to collect large amounts of fish) -Mortar cabin (gives trawler weak artillery capacity) -Cargo container (storage capacity) Mosquito: -fuel tanks -cargo box -door mounted turret smuggler: -fuel tanks -cargo box -bomb bay Bulldog: -front shovel (add active ability to create temporary front armor (dirt) -side armor (to protect treads) -reactive armor -Mortar Barrel Tango: -Turret upgrade (possibly two, either improving its fire rate, damage, or changing it to other turret types) -side turrets (replaces two passengers with two gunners and adding two small turrets to either side.) -Cargo cages Warbird: -Bomb bay -fuel tanks -engine/pilot armor Wisent: -Cabin Turret (adds a turret to the top of the driver cabin) -armored wheels -fuel tanks

I believe the wisent could use additional cover for it's rear passengers, and a rear faxing mounted machine gun, the mosquito could have seats on the landing gears, some way to scout an area (If that's not vehicle frameworks job), and maybe increased cargo?

The Dragonborn

I like most of these, though i feel like allot aren't unique to the vehicles The Charlie I wouldn't put a front mounted shotgun on, but -a side car/possibly with a gun, like they did in the old days I do like the trawler mortar upgrade, the naval trawler had artillery on its deck, so it's not unheard of, quite the opposite in fact The mosquito, i like the fuel tanks, but the copter is a reference to the AH-6 the most common modification is -missle pods/machine guns -a small amount of underbelly plating The bulldog, i like everything except the dozer blade, the tank reminds me of the patton and the m1a1 squished together, and the main upgrade for these tanks? -machine guns For the tango, armor should be the main focus, is an APC, the JAWS/Guardian/M59/WARRIOR what do they all have upgraded first? -improved/reactive armour! The warbird? Everything except the bomb bay, c'mon! Where's his parachute!? -parachute (when the warbird would crash, the pawn will be ejected x tiles away from the crash with x amount of varying injuries) The wisent? It's essentially the next mule -canvas top/bed armor (storage/protection)

Roadrunner: 1. Dually - increase vehicle footprint from 2 wide to 3 wide, increase cargo capacity, decrease fuel efficiency 2. Lift kit - better off road performance, decrease fuel efficiency 3. jump seats - Adds two exposed rear-facing seats to truck bed, reduce cargo capacity

Chance713

A universal gas tank expansion (maybe 1.5x or 2x capacity). Can be installed on any tier two. Possible downside: slower movement, less cargo capacity, and/or chance for fuel explosion (takes out some of your current fuel and damages parts near the tank).

Charley Sidecar - a passenger seat Luggage Trunk - extra cargo storage Windshield - protects the driver from frontal damage Wagon Extended Trunk - raised cargo area for an extra 180kg storage Climate Control - Wagon drivers & passengers are protected from outside temperatures Performance Upgrade - Better fuel efficiency, faster movement speed, and a really cool hood scoop Wisent Turret Rack - 2 turrets, one in the bed and one in the passenger seat. Inspired by real-life Gun Trucks, and especially the Mercenaries 2 Archer Gun Truck Armor Panels - panelling along the side to protect passengers in the bed from damage. Tango Mortar - popular upgrade to the m113 IRL, fills the T2 Artillery gap Slat Armor - protects the Tango and its passengers from some high-damage attacks Bulldog Mounted Machine Gun - Extra turret and gunner slot. Reactive Armor - completely nullifies one (or a few) explosion(s) but is completely damaged after. However, it repairs extremely fast. Roadrunner Mounted Turret - to turn it into a classic Technical

Better fuel efficiency, bigger fuel tanks, increased speed, or better off-road ability for pretty much any vehicle. Roof cargo mounts for the Snatcher and Wagon: Gives extra cargo space. Improved Steering Column for the Trawler: Slightly improves speed on Small Rivers, Greatly improves speed on Rivers, Huge Rivers are as fast as open ocean. Fishing Nets for the Trawler: Can catch fish while resting on the open ocean. The amount is dependent on the Animals and foraging skills of anyone on board. Machine Gun for the Bulldog. The same weapon as the Mini-Turret, but controlled by the gunner. Hatches for the Tango: Allows passengers to fire outside of the vehicle with reduced accuracy and firing arc.

I'm feeling like specialization will keep t2s freshest Roadrunner: 1. Dually - increase vehicle footprint from 2 wide to 3 wide, increase cargo capacity, decrease fuel efficiency 2. Lift kit - better off road performance, decrease fuel efficiency 3. towing equipment - allows moving smaller vehicles Snatcher: 1. Armor 2. Generator - spend chemfuel to provide external power 3. comms array (mounts on the roof like a news van) - allows orbital trading while caravanning Charley: 1. passenger seat 2. saddlebags 3. snowmobile conversion Wagon: 1. Roof rack 2. armor 3. "Turbo Kit" - increases speed and adds a "vape", essentially a built-in autobong for caravan happiness reasons and also usable in combat to create an intoxicating smokescreen (visually adds a hood scoop and big rear exhaust)
