[DEVBLOG#242] Imperial vehicles (Patreon)
Content
Hey folks and welcome to a quick devblog about what I have been recently working on.
Whilst programming work is happening on Tier 3 vehicles, I've started drafting up a new Vehicles module which I already teased in the VVE infographics: Imperial vehicles.
VFE-Deserters will feature raids on aerodrone stations, attacks on shuttle depots and sneaky ambushes on maxpack convoys, but all these vehicles inevitably should also end up in the hands of the players and fully buildable vehicles if you choose to side with the Empire.
As such, I'm creating a new Vanilla Vehicles Expanded module which will feature a plethora of imperial-tech vehicles of various tiers: Tier 1, Tier 2 and maybe even Tier 3.
From Aerodrones and Maxpacks to armored minigun vans and tanks equipped with flamethrowers, I believe you will find something exciting in it.
These vehicles will require imperial techprints to unlock - so you either need to cosy up with the Empire, or purchase them via contraband system in VFE-Deserters.
I am still designing all the different vehicles, ensuring they all have consistent style and are not just generic tanks. Above you can see an armored personel carrier with a very inaccurate minigun turret.
This is an imperial maxpack - an incredibly well armored cargo hauler that excels on long distance travels. Unlike other trucks, maxpacks work very well offroad, and the amount of armor protecting the valuable cargo means that even the strongest weapons will fail to deal damage to it.
Aerodrones will also be buildable, and can be controlled without a pilot in them! You will be able to send out aerodrones on drone strikes, but also on recon missions to find out what the enemies are hiding. Once air defenses become part of the framework, aerodrones will be immune from them due to high altitude they fly at. They are, however, electric-powered, and their batteries don't last long at all!
Tier 1 shuttle is your cheapest option to transport troops and cargo over medium distance. While it's not as good as the actual imperial shuttles, these bad boys are accessed much earlier in the game and don't require a lot of resources to make. They are also capable of VTOL, which means you don't need runways!
I will see you soon with more information! Let me know what you think about these!
