Coming This Week to Digital Foundry (Week 51, 2024) (Patreon)
Content
It's always slightly terrifying to write a new weekly post and to see the week counter march onwards to the magical 52, but here we are. Where did the time go?
It's no secret that December is one of the few months of the year where we can actually make decent money on YouTube and it's also the one month of the year where I can be guaranteed that we'll be having a lot of staff holidays! This week's #content meeting was about tackling that challenge. Here's what the team have lined up for you.
Alex conducted a roundtable meeting with staff members from Machine Games to talk about full ray tracing in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle and we're planning on running that #content later this week. Alex is also going to be tacking a big part in our upcoming Graphics of the Year video. What? You want more? How about a PC Time Capsule video comparing The Thing on OG PC hardware with the new Nightdive port? Obviously, John will be participating on that one. There's also the chance of a best/worst PC ports of 2024 video too.
Speaking of which, John has a lot going on! He's teaming up with Audi to deliver two videos - best audio of 2024, along with a year retrospective on the events in retro. He's producing his own games of the year video, as is the norm for this time of year and will, of course, be adding his input to the graphics of the year #content. Oh? And how about a Soul Reaver 1/2 collaboration with Marc 'Try4ce' Duddleson from My Life in Gaming? It's happening.
Oliver - now officially acknowledged as the busiest man in gaming - will be working on that Graphics of the Year video, both participating in it and editing it. He'll be working on DF Direct #194, likely the last of the year, and he's already handed in Horizon and Final Fantasy PS5 Pro videos. Also on the Mackenzie to-do list: Black Myth Wukong PS5 Pro and perhaps even Alan Wake 2.
Tom is working on the Space Marine 2 PS5 Pro content, before circling back to deliver the Call of Duty Black Ops 6 PS5 Pro/studio visit content. A Games of the Year video? Also a possibility.
Rich (ie me) has some embargoed stuff from January to do, but will also be endeavouring to get the Mini ITX build video done. Some PS5 Pro comparisons? Why not?
Will is looking to cover the eagerly awaited 0x114 BIOS update for Intel Arrow Lake - will it actually bring gaming performance back to where it should be? Beyond that, he's continuing to maintain our burgeoning presence on Eurogamer.
There's also some embargoed stuff coming later in the week that you should find very interesting, and we're also trying to get our diaries in order for CES. There's a relatively good chance that we'll be doing an in-person 'not exactly live' from Las Vegas video for that, which we're really looking forward to. As is the chance to actually meet Oliver (!!).
Anyway - as ever - please feel free to comment, ask questions and suggest anything we might have missed.
