Hi everyone! The second movie reaction for the week was another Reactr request. I hadn't heard of this one before. And why not check another Robert De Niro film off my list!

Click here to watchalong with me.

My expression for this thumbnail is dramatic as hell, but if you've seen the movie then you might know... and if you haven't, then you WILL know. 😉

Please enjoy the reaction! I'm looking forward to your comments.

PS. Kill Bill is releasing tomorrow! Apologies for the slight delay in these two reactions this week.

Great reaction! This is such a great film. Some great lessons about not giving up, and the tense moments are fun, but wow is the racist stuff infuriating. I always feel like this could be maybe 10 mins shorter, but there's already so much you're not seeing (like the relationship stuff, as you noted), so I don't know that they could actually cut. 🤷 (IF this ever gets a YouTube edit in the future, you might consider dropping it on a February, for Black History Month.)

This is why I love reactr. You never know what's going to be requested next! Thanks to whoever requested this one! Now I had seen this before but it's been a long time. It was nice to watch it again! Took me a few minutes but I realized Carl's dad was Isaiah in Falcon and the Winter Soldier! That was so cool seeing him younger. Same attitude, same anger. Fantastic actor. This film is such a gut-punch and so masterful. It's sad that there's still places where that kind of discrimination still exists, maybe not to that extreme but discrimination nonetheless. I don't think I'll ever be able to wrap my head around the prejudice accompanying skin color. The shit Carl went through was next level, all because of factors he had no control over. But he had the will to persevere! If you want to see another fantastic Cuba Gooding Jr role, check out the first season of American Crime Story called The People vs OJ Simpson. Cuba plays OJ and holy crap that season... even if it's on personal time (if you have time) it's an excellent watch. Thank you for your reaction! Moving and wonderful as always! PS - I absolutely DID forget about that scene LOL
