“Hello, Mrs and Mr. Do you have a reservation for today?” A waiter of a local ramen restaurant asked the two of them, seemingly not seeing anything unusual about the two of them.

“We want a table for two, but we do not have a reservation.” Ichika spoke and the waiter nodded. Ichika paused for a bit when she saw the nearby tables, then added. “Uhm… As you can see I might need a little more space than most other girls. Do you by chance have any more spacious seats?”

“Oh, uhm… Sadly we don’t have the big seats specifically made for extra species yet, but we do have a table that has a lot of free space around it. I am sure it is more than enough space for you to comfortably sit and enjoy a meal. May I show it to you?” The waiter said, clearly caught off guard but managing the situation quite well.

The waiter led the way and Ichika followed, with Fuutarou walking closely behind her. He intently watched her as her tail moved in snake-lines from left to right and from right to left. It was almost hypnotizing. As they arrived at the table and the waiter excused himself, Fuutarou spoke up. “I have noticed something. For one who has never done it before, you are moving around quite well I must say.”

“Huh?” ichika looked down at herself as she was about to sit down on the chair. “Uhm… I didn’t even notice. It just feels so natural. Good thing too, cause I really would not have been a fan of relearning walking again. Haha.”

There was a bit of silence between them as both scanned through the menu. It wasn’t long until the waiter came back again and both ordered their share of ramen. Once the waiter left for the second time, Fuutarou spoke up to break the silence.

“We need to talk about this situation.” He said.

“About what exactly? It's a good thing I found a nice little present already for the others, because I would just love to sleep one night over it before thinking about this weird situation again.” Ichika answered and held her head.

“Listen. When confronted with an unknown situation; it is important to keep in mind everything we know about the situation.” Fuutarou sighed, making Ichika shrug her shoulders.

“Fine. Let's see… I have a snake-like lower body now and therefore am a Lamia. And for some reason people just don’t think that that's strange. I seem to now be part of the extra species, which basically means the “non-human” species.” Ichika explained, leaning back on her chair with her gaze firmly fixed on the tip of her tail somewhat next to her.

“That woman was definitely sketchy. I still can’t explain how she did that. Remember when we briefly split up and I went to the library? I found a few interesting books about Lamias, books that were written in a way that wouldn’t make you think that Lamias are pure fiction.” Fuutarou added.

“Here you go.” The waiter appeared again, this time with two bowls of ramen in his hands. He placed them in front of the two and disappeared again with a quick “I hope you enjoy.”

“I realized just now.” Ichika remarked after a few bites out of her bowl. Fuutarou stopped to listen intently. “I like eggs now way more than I ever did before.”

“Could you be more serious for once. This is…” Fuutarou felt his blood pressure rising. Ichika just seemed way too chilled for what had just happened to her. This was insanity, and she just acted like it was nothing.

“Look, I get it. You are concerned about me, but could you do me a favour? We can’t do anything about it right now, so could you please pretend that everything is normal, if only for today?” Ichika asked, making Fuutarou speechless. Both stared at each other for a bit, before Fuutarou started to eat his bowl of ramen again.

“We already know how this transformation was triggered. If any of my sisters touch you, they will become extra species like I am now. It doesn’t seem to affect any other people than us and not even me anymore. So as long as we avoid that, everything should be fine, right?” Ichika smiled, looking like she was trying to comfort Fuutarou. He reluctantly nodded and went back to finish his bowl.

As promised, Ichika paid for them both on their way out, while Fuutarou was still in deep thought. It was clear by this point that Ichika was just going to roll with her current situation, and honestly it did seem like the most rational option to follow as well. It just didn’t sit well with Fuutarou.

Especially since he wasn’t going to believe in ‘magic’ any time soon. There had to be a rational explanation for all of this, but until he found out what that was, he should just accept that something weird had happened and move on as well.

Ring, ring.

“Hello?” Ichika had picked up her phone barely after the two of them had left the restaurant, but now she was showing signs of slowing down.

“Uhm… I am currently on my way home. What? Really? That’s… Okay. Yes, I’ll be home soon. Thanks, I am looking forward to it.” Ichika wore a wide and flabbergasted smile as she hung up the phone. Fuutarou stared at her curiously, but he wasn’t going to pry if she didn’t want to tell.

“My manager just called.” Ichika explained while looking happier by the second. “I got a major role in the movie I auditioned for! Granted, as the main villainess rather than the heroine, but I am not going to turn such an amazing opportunity down. The director wants to check out whether I, as a Lamia, would work well in that role, but he has high hopes! My manager will pick me up in about 15 minutes.”

“I don’t even know how to respond to that. Congratulations.” Fuutarou let out, being just as surprised as she was. But by now her surprise was turning into excitement.

“Me neither. This is amazing, but we have to hurry to my place. I don’t want to keep him waiting!” Ichika said and picked up the pace, with Fuutarou giving his best to keep up. His lack of athletic prowess was really starting to show again.

As both of them reached the apartment complex of the Nakano sisters, a vehicle stood in front of it that both were not expecting. It was a big truck with Oda, Ichika’s manager, leaning against it while waiting impatiently.

“There you are, my future superstar.” he said, went around to the truck's back and opened it up, revealing a large cushioned seat that was clearly way too big for any human. “We still have a bit of time left, but I am sure neither of us wants to miss this amazing opportunity. Getting there early won’t hurt.”

Ichika nodded and slithered towards the back door, only to stop and turn around abruptly. Both Oda and Fuutarou looked at her confusedly as she reached into her bag, seemingly fishing for something.

“Fuutarou-kun. Could you please go up and give them all one of these?” She said and handed him four cute keychains in different colours. She quickly slithered over to the automated door of the apartment and opened it with her keycard. “Give them my regards and tell them that I won’t be home for dinner. Good thing I have eaten already.”

Fuutarou thought for a moment, then gave her a confident smile and went through the door and said. “Sure, I’ll do it. Don’t worry about it and just give your best out there! You got this!”

As the glass door closed behind him, Ichika turned and moved into the back entrance of the truck. At first Fuutarou was a bit confused about the whole truck thing, but considering Ichika's new length, she probably wouldn’t have fit into a normal car anymore. With that situation explained in his head, he stepped into the elevator, satisfied that he’d at least managed to explain a single thing about this very bizzare day.

Stepping out of the elevator, he walked towards their apartment door and knocked a few times, only to realize that the door was already open. So he just shrugged his shoulders and stepped in.

“Welcome home, you are the first. I guess I should start cooking now…” Nino stepped down the stairs, sounding really happy. Though her mood instantly soured as she saw who stood at the door. “Oh, it's you. Why are you here? How did you even get in? I am the only one at home right now, so scram, would you?”

“Hi Nino. Please listen to me for a second.” Fuutarou spoke as he slowly stepped in.

“I’m listening. Don’t waste my time.” Nino stood right in front of him with her hand on her hips, looking really annoyed.

“Ichika bought all of you a little present for getting through the exam last week.” He said and showed Nino the four keychains in his hand. Her face lightened in surprise for a moment, before going right back to being annoyed. Fuutarou continued. “She wanted to give them to you in person, but work called at the last moment. She let me in to deliver these, and I plan on leavíng right after.”

“Sure…” Nino spoke sarcastically and stepped towards Fuutarou, only to rip the 4 keychains out of his hand quite violently.

“You can give her a call if you don’t believe me.” He said and shook his hand in pain. Nino could pull quite hard when she wanted to.

“I said sure! I’ll give it to them when they come home. Now get lost! Nobody invited you for dinner, so go home! Honestly…” Nino turned around and walked upstairs with the keychains in her hand, shaking her head all the way.

Fuutarou also sighed and turned around towards the exit. Of all the sisters to be alone at home, of course it had to be the one that completely hated his guts. After everything that happened today, he really didn’t want to deal with an angry Nino as well. Just imagine how pissed she would be if she accidently touched him and transformed into a…

“Wait. When she took the keychains, did she touch my hands?” Fuutarou asked and looked at his slightly reddened hand, which still hurt a bit. It was probably fine since Nino didn’t react at…

KYYYAAAA~

Never mind. Fuutarou instantly turned around and ran upstairs. He didn’t quite see where she was going, but he had a feeling. Under normal circumstances he would never dare enter Nino’s room, even if he was invited. But these were no normal circumstances, so he slammed the door to her room open.

“Nino! Are you okay?” He shouted as he entered the room, only to be stunned at what he saw.

Just as he thought, Nino was sitting on her bed while her legs had almost entirely turned purple at that point and also looked like they were fusing together. Nino’s expression was one of pure shock, seeming not even realizing that Fuutarou stood with her in her room.

But even stranger was that her room seemed to change with her just as much. It looked like her bed was on an elevator, as a rectangular form cut itself from the floor and slowly drifted downwards. The rest of her room also started to change seemingly at random, but everything happened so fast that he had a hard time pinpointing what exactly had changed.

“Uesugi!?! Why are you…? Hnn~ What now? A-Ah~” Nino had spotted Fuutarou, but only spared him a glance, as her face immediately went back down to her lower half. It looked like Nino was now wearing a very spherical purple dress.

But it didn’t stay like that for long, as suddenly multiple vertical cuts appeared along her lower half. The cuts grew deeper until Nino let out a little scream and the shear split up into eight nearly equal sized appendages.

As Nino was panting hard, surely because of the alien sensations, her lower appendages grew out a bit more while on the underside of them a lot of small suction cups started to appear. All of them grew a bit more while looking like they were moving independently. She looked like…

Nino let out a small ‘Eep’ as her shirt disappeared into seemingly thin air, but in actuality transformed into a bikini that looked like two shells that were barely covering her chest.

She ‘Eep’ed a second time when suddenly the area around her bed that had been moving down the entire time, filled to the brim with water, drowning her bed. Her initial shock was great, but quickly subsided. It was like she suddenly really enjoyed being in the water.

“Uesugi! GET OUT OF MY ROOM ALREADY!” With her head a bit more clear, Nino turned towards Fuutarou. Her eyes were completely filled with anger and panic, and he knew that she was about to let everything out on him if he made one wrong move.

So he closed his eyes and slowly closed the door to her room, with his head possibly even more scrambled than Nino’s. What had just happened to her room? It was as if the place where her bed had once been was now a pool that had just magically appeared.

“Don’t you dare run away now.” He heard her voice muffled through the closed door. “You have a lot of explaining to do. Don’t leave me like this alone…”

Fuutarou felt slightly guilty for what had happened. With Ichika’s sudden change of plans and requests and everything, he had forgotten for a moment, he had forgotten what would happen to the quins with the slightest touch of his hand. He owed Nino a full explanation.

“I’ll be waiting in the living room.” He said, made his way downstairs and sat down on the couch. He crossed his arms and started thinking really hard about how the heck he was supposed to explain this situation to Nino of all people.

That's when he noticed that Nino’s room wasn’t the only thing that had changed. Two of the chairs around the center table had changed drastically. They were bigger, more spacious and looked almost as if they were designed to hold beings much bigger than normal people.

“So, my dear tutor Uesugi Fuutarou! How about you start talking about what you did to me and why.” Nino spoke, her tone as venomous as her smile.

Nino moved down the stairs quite gracefully, for someone who had never walked with eight legs before. Her lower half looked like a purple skirt, that split up half way into the aforementioned eight tentacles.

“I’ll be listening.” She still only wore that new shell bikini, but now had a stick in hand, which she smacked against her hand frequently, like a strict old school teacher. This was going to be a hard one.

“And you expect me to believe this?” Nino asked, her voice clearly filled with mountains of sarcasm.

“You expect me to believe that you and Ichika went to some sort of witch? And now when we touch you, we turn into something like this?!?” She reiterated, sounding even more irritated than before, when suddenly…

BANG

Fuutarou’s fist smacked on the table, startling her.

“No, I don’t.” He said, his head hanging low. “Trust me, out of everyone I know, I would be the last to believe in magic. I would love to know everything that was really going on here, but I don’t. So I just wanted to tell you everything I know about the situation, even if I would never believe it myself. You deserved to know.”

Nino went quiet at Fuutarou’s outburst. She looked down at her new tentacles, then to the chair she was sitting on. Finally she broke into a huge sigh.

“Leave. I don’t want to see you again today. I promise I will give the girls the present from Ichika, so you do your best to avoid them as much as you can. I’ll speak with the girls about my situation tonight.” Nino spoke, stood up and pointed at the door.

“I understand.” Fuutarou rose up as well and quietly walked to the door, just as instructed. As he was about to leave the apartment, he stopped and spoke up one more time. “When you have talked to Ichika, please give me a call. I would like to know how we plan to continue with this situation.”

“Wait. Why Ichika? Just because she is another extra species?” Nino asked in return, but then added. “Oh. I remember now. She was a human too. That is some weird feeling having your memories messed with…”

“I can imagine. She was human before she turned into a Lamia, just as you were human before you turned into… whatever you are now. I promise I will find out as much as I can about your species as possible until tomorrow.” Fuutarou spoke and started walking towards the elevator.

“...Scylla…” Nino whispered, making Fuutarou stop for a moment. She continued. “I am a Scylla now. Don’t ask me how I know, it just came to me. Now go home, it's getting late.”

And with that, Fuutarou entered the elevator, as a thought came to him that really made him wonder. If Nino’s room had changed so much with her transformation, then how did Ichika's always super messy room look like now?
