Monstrous Distinction Part 5 (Patreon)

The mild panic had quickly turned into an awkward silence after Yotsuba barged in. All five, the four quins together with Fuutarou stared at the antique “Aladdin looking” bottled lamp that the usual hyper-energetic quin placed on the table. It was clear that Yotsuba had clearly shaken up the entire room.
“...Okay then. Yotsuba, do you mind going in a bit more detail about what happened to you and Miku…?” Ichika asked, managing to peel her eyes away from the strange artifact on the table and give her sister a patient smile. Though from the shaking of her snake tail it was obvious that she still was only ‘acting’ calm.
“Huh? Oh. Yeah… about that…” Yotsuba let out meekly, fidgeting quite a bit. It was clear that she was uncomfortable talking about it, though Fuutarou struggled to see why that would be the case.
Yotsuba briefly jolted, then turned to look to the left where Nino sat. At first glance, it might seem like Nino was just sitting on the chair with arms crossed, but in actuality one of her tentacles had slithered up and placed itself on top of Yotsuba’s hand, as if to comfort her. And it worked surprisingly well, as Yotsuba’s expression first blossomed into a happy smile, then changed into pure determination.
“Okay. It was just after I returned to school with the ingredients and groceries Ichika told me to buy. I was pretty fast, so I thought I might be able to catch up with you.” Yotsuba spoke, determination in her eyes, yet her gaze hanging low.
“Oh yeah. Those groceries!” Nino said, standing up from her seat and making everyone look at her. She just gave a quick ‘please ignore me’ wave with her hands and moved towards the door. “I’m just going to throw these into the fridge real quick. Please Yotsuba, continue.”
“Uhm… alright. Well, I didn’t see you there anymore, but when I was about to enter the School area, I ran into… myself.” Yotsuba said, then letting out an exhausted giggle. “I honestly should have known already that it was Miku, but you know me. I was shocked to see myself.”
“Yeah… that does sound like you…” Fuutarou let out and everyone else on the table nodded in agreement. Yotsuba scratched her head in shame while letting out a soft “Ahahah…”
“And then Miku transformed in front of your eyes?” Ichika asked, looking back at the lamp.
“Well, I might have overreacted to seeing myself…” Yotsuba spoke, her eyes filled with shame. “Miku just said ‘hey, I am done here as well. Wanna go home together?’. And I might have shouted ‘Wah~ A Doppelganger! Go away!’. Then I heard the scream of Miku and when I looked back, I could barely see the last bit of her body getting sucked into the lamp.”
“Guys… I might have trapped Miku in her own lamp! She hasn't come out since! I am scared. Did I seal her in her own lamp?” Yotsuba asked, though the wording of her question made Fuutaro stop and think about what Yotsuba really thought.
So apparently, Miku going into a lamp wasn’t that weird to Yotsuba, but the fact that Miku struggled against it and didn’t come out since was a reason for concern. Which also in turn meant that Miku has most likely also turned into a monster girl, and judging from the object she had turned into, it wasn’t hard to guess what she became.
“Okay, Itsuki. Your time to shine~” Ichika chimed, looking at the youngest sister with expecting eyes. “As you know, we remember Miku as human, but it doesn’t look like she is one anymore. Do you mind enlightening us?”
“Well… Of course she is not human. She is a lamp genie, and was one for as long as I remember.” Itsuki stated matter of factly, though she looked very concerned when all three of Ichika, Nino and Fuutarou looked like that was new information for them.
A quick look around made Fuutarou speak up as well, to clear up the confusion still present in the two other monstrous girls in the room. So he explained. “According to myth, genies are Arabian spirits of lamps known to grant the holder of their lamp up to three wishes.”
“Oh? That sounds like a convenient little sister~ What is the catch?” Ichika asked Fuutarou, her tail now wagging in excitement.
“It’s usually…”
“The catch is that genies can’t grant wishes! Honestly, since when do you believe in myths?” Itsuki interrupted Fuutarou, looking judgingly at Ichika who just gave her a little smile back. “Yeah, yeah, I know that in the movies they always show genies being able to grant wishes, but that is all CGI and TV magic. It has nothing to do with real world science!”
“You know, to me, a person who believes to have been a human once, growing a snake tail and having the reality change around her seemed pretty magical. I would believe it if someone told me that Miku was now able to grant wishes.” Ichika stated, making Itsuki flinch backwards a little bit.
There was a bit of a silence between the sisters, before Yotsuba, of all people, spoke up again. “Ano… May I ask what we are going to do with Miku now? She still seems pretty stuck inside the lamp you know, and I honestly don’t know why the conversation derailed so much.”
“Oh, right.” Fuutarou stood up from the chair and walked over to Yotsuba. “As far as legend goes, genies can’t leave their lamps on their own, but if a human rubs the lamp, then they will be set free!”
“For real?!? That's so easy to fix then!” Yotsuba yelped, a happy smile forming on her face again.
“Well, according to legends that is. But what does our resident monster girl expert say to that?” Fuutarou asked, and all of the gazes immediately shifted to Itsuki, who was just starting to stuff her face full with the salad that was still standing on the table.
“hmow wohld I kmow?” Itsuki babbled with a full mouth, but quickly swallowed afterwards to speak a bit clearer. “This has never happened before. Though that lamp genies are usually stuck in their lamps is just pure myth. Miku frequently hides in her lamp and has no problem going in or out at her leisure. I don’t know what rubbing the lamp would do realistically…”
“It doesn’t hurt to try!” Yotsuba let out, grabbing the lamp with both of her hands and happily starting to rub the sides of them. Though it honestly looked more like she was petting it then rubbing it like in the movies or stories.
Though before Fuutarou could correct her, the lamp started to glow and the opened tip started to emit a constant stream of blue smoke. But instead of spreading the smoke actually condensed in one singular cloud above Yotsuba, then started to form into a more human shape. Head, waist, two hands, the sizable breasts the quins were known for… they all formed out of the smoke until…
Poof~
“Oh hi Miku. Glad to have you back from the lamp realm.” Itsuki said, sounding more apathetic than compassionate at the moment. Though when Fuutarou thought about it a little bit more, to her it must have looked like her sister had acted like she had forgotten how to walk out of nowhere. Because going in and out the lamp seemed to have been a skill that Miku should have possessed for a long time.
“Puha~” The person who was presumably Miku let out and stretched herself while floating above the table next to Yotsuba. Most of her human features on her upper half had returned, but her entire lower body was still just shiny blue smoke that still seemed connected to the lamp Yotsuba was holding.
She opened her eyes slowly and looked around the table, noticing pretty fast that basically everyone was present. Miku looked like she was trying to say something, but her voice failed her. Instead she just aquarly kept hovering above the table, until Itsuki spoke up.
“So Miku. Let’s say that some people in this room claim that you were human at one point. What do you say to that?” Itsuki asked, making pretty much everyone look at her surprised. Even Nino gave her a brief cold look before turning back to Miku.
“Whaaaa….? Miku is a human?!? That can’t be…!” Yotsuba interjected, looking more shocked than basically all of them combined. So Yotsuba really didn't pay attention to anything Fuutarou and the others were talking about before. “Isn’t she a ge…?”
“I am… human…” Miku let out quietly, her gaze wandering down to her misty lower body. “At least… I was human. I don't know what happened…”
Itsuki sighed and scratched the top of her head. After a short while of thinking, Itsuki spoke up. “Okay, I have decided to completely believe your story. I will help you all in any way you need me. But first, how about you tell the entire thing to Miku.”
Both Yotsuba and Miku looked confused at first, but then Ichika nodded and started to explain…

Guess whats back~ Its time for the quins to become monster girls again~
I have decided to make each chapter of this series a bit shorter for now, because this allows me to easier toggle between this story and others. but my goal is to finish this series... eventually.
