The siblings are unfortunately leaving the show. Even though they still seem like new characters, this was their third season and most of the Elite characters are written off after 3 seasons. A part of me is glad that they're leaving because the writers usually fuck up the story lines of the characters who have been on for 4 or more seasons. The producers revealed on Elite's Instagram what actors were going to be added to the season 7 cast before season 6 even premiered. I really wish they had waited until people had a chance to watch season 6 because the amount of new people they were adding made it obvious to me that this would be Patrick, Mencia, and Ari's last season. Sonia was one of the actors they revealed to be in season 7 and I'm excited to learn more about her since she seems like a genuinely sweet person. They also revealed that Omar was returning to the show, which was strange but I'm curious to see where they take his character.

One of the things that I think made this season feel fresh was that the writing often subverted our expectations. Of course the writers fell into a lot of the same tropes that we've seen on Elite before, but there were many instances this season that surprised the audience. In episode 1, it seemed that they were setting up Mencia, Sara, and Raul to be some kind of threesome like they've done on Elite before but the reality was a much more complex and interesting story line. Those three were even in all of the marketing for season 6 together hinting at some kind of threesome. This was also the first time they killed a character off in the middle rather than the end of a season, which resulted in some intense emotional content. I would argue that Cruz's death has been the most impactful since Marina's because we were able to see the characters reactions and subsequent actions in real time. Another unexpected scene was in episode 7 when Ivan took Patrick to his hotel suite. We as an audience anticipate an unwise hook up between the two, but they have a meaningful conversation and actually communicate for once. Even though they had some nice moments together, I'm glad that the writers didn't force Patrick and Ivan back together like they repeatedly did with Omar and Ander. Sara and Raul's abusive relationship got a little too much air time in my opinion, but it makes sense considering what happened in the finale. I feel like once the shock wore off, Sara immediately regretted calling Raul for help. You can see in her face that she looks dead inside knowing that she's trapped with him now. The shooting at the end of the finale was pretty shocking since they usually don't leave the audience with much of a cliff hanger. I definitely think the shooter was trying to aim for Didac's brother because the camera kept going back to him during the scene, and there would be no other reason for him to be in the shot at all if he wasn't the intended target. For a show like Elite that has had so many seasons, it is important to try to shake things up to keep the audience engaged.

Great reaction! I really liked what you said during ep 7, how infuriating it was that the only way the writers knew how to have Isadora's character change and grow was through rape. I hate this trope of "softening" a character by having them go through this so much, so thank you for pointing that out! Yeah, Raul really has his claws in Sara now and I feel awful for her. Curious to see her storyline next season! What they did well this season was the friendships, especially between the girls (not sth Elite has been very good at previously), and I hope Sara's friends see through Raul and she somehow finds a way out of this. The three siblings are indeed leaving, which is a shame, because this was the first season I really liked Ari and Mencia haha. I also feel really bad for them. Patrick is the only one in his family in the dark and he had to leave the boy he loved (even tho I agree, they needed time apart, but of course that doesn't make it easier for him). Mencia believes she almost killed someone close to her in a car accident, when she probably still feels guilty and responsible for her mom dying in a car accident because she was looking for her. Trauma on top of trauma. And Ari... Oooof. She had to make nice with the man who killed her boyfriend, and she'll have to lie to her twin for the rest of forever. I don't see this boding well for her drinking problem. And yeah, she was kinda similar to her dad there at the end - because that's what he's been trying to turn her into probably ever since the mom died. I got furious at him when he told Ari "Now you understand, we as parents do everything to protect our children" or sth along those lines. She is NOT a parent, you jerk, she's your child! But their dad has made sure to treat Ari like his favorite all these years so he can use her to control her siblings. He's put all this responsibility on her shoulders- remember in s4, when he continuously asked her whether she was keeping Mencia in check? Mencia was the problem child, Patrick was in bed for ages after the accident that killed their mom, and Ari just... accepted she was the one to take care of them and hold it all together, since she couldn't disappoint their father. And now the dad used all of that to his advantage. I haaate him, if that wasn't clear :D Really enjoyed rewatching with you, thank you!
