As you well pointed out, there is so much we still don’t know about the life of the brothers. On top of that Damon isn’t particularly vocal about his traumas, he doesn’t like to be perceived as vulnerable, because in the dangerous world they live, showing any sign of vulnerability might get them killed or in huge troubles and Damon learnt that the hard way. On the other hand Stefan had Lexi to support him almost from the very beginning so he is almost unexposed to danger, also because when he switches his humanity off Stefan is the danger others have to defend himself from, as a ripper killing his way through the founding families and later becoming the infamous ripper of Monterey. It is clever by the writers put the traumas of the two brothers in a parallel storyline to underline how differently the two of them deal with them. Now, we know about Stefan drowning and dying over and over again for three months, as a vampire meaning that everything is intensified, even his PTSD it's agonising. He is hollowing in it because as Katherine said at the moment, Stefan has no clear purpose in life but spiralling down in it. He gave Katherine a good advice “sack it up!” an advice he should have take himself many times, but never did. I love that scene at the clock tower. Stefan doesn’t want to be too gentle with her, but at the same time he saves her life and told her a sentence that has an undertone of admiration for her resilience. The relationship between the brothers and Katherine has always been a step away from love, they all at some point loved each other, even if Katherine love was very damaging to them, but that love is still lingering somehow, simmering in a broth of harsh resentment. They seem to be an unavoidable part of each other's life, they cannot seem wanting to shake off for good, like a relative that is in your family, you don’t get along with at all, but being still a relative, you have to put up with. in certain occasions. Regarding Damon, all we know is that at some point he switched his humanity off, and knowing Damon, it is very much an out of character thing to do, because when you are with your humanity off and alone, you don’t care about anything, including yourself and act carelessly. Damon knows that. So as Lexi said when she founded him in New York in the 70s “What happen to Damon Salvatore so bad that had to switch his humanity off” and he answered: “Let’s say I didn’t like the 50s” and didn’t elaborate on it. Now we saw Damon reacting with flashes of horrifying memories surfacing at the mention of the name Augustine, his PTSD. Then being capture by Prof. Maxfield and put on a cell that has his initials and a date ’53. So we are going to get to the bottom of why he didn’t like the 50s. Also we know that Damon came back to Mystic Falls, in season one, with his humanity barely dimmed on, just enough to focus on his task to get Katherine back. He didn’t know anybody, he didn’t care about anybody and that is when he meet Caroline, that was a little insecure girl, not particularly deep, or interesting. So, to him she was only a meaning to get to the crystal, to have a bit of fun and an easy feed, with is humanity barely on, he didn’t care one bit about her. So that is what Caroline experienced with Damon when she first met him. But since then, years have passed, and many things have happened. All of them have done pretty bad staff and Damon is so not the worse of them. He's just take upon himself tasks nobody wants to take, for fear of being judged. His actions to save everybody, and he has saved pretty much everybody one time or another, are the action of a person that gets things done when things needed to be done. That is why Elena, Bonnie, Liz, Alaric, trust him now, and see his motivations, see his true character, his good heart, even Stefan start to see it, but not Caroline that should give everybody more credit, in regard of Damon. But I recon she cannot pass her initial impression of him, because he is a constant reminder of a Caroline she doesn’t want to remember. TVD writers never leave things unexplained, and always give the characters motivations for acting or reacting in a certain way, that is consistent with their psychological profile and to what happen to them in their life. This level of depth in character writing is something I still haven’t come across in any other TV show, probably it takes so much energy time and resources, that very rarely nowadays shows have. So let's find out what happen to Damon Salvatore in the 50s.

I think Jeremy didn't see that ghost lady because he can only see a ghost if they want Jeremy to see them, so it's usually when they want to speak to him. That lady had no connection to Jeremy so I think she didn't appear to him. Also anyone please correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think Wes Maxfield is related to Aaron. I think he's just his legal guardian.

Patpet

Correct in both matters. If we remember when Jeremy first started to see ghosts Anna was explaining to him that seeing her it was a both way thing, he wanted to see her and she wanted him to see her; with Rose was the same he didn't see her, until she wanted him to see her too. And yes Prof. Maxfield and Aaron are not related.

By the way, yes, technology has moved on up not only for mobile phones but for shooting equipments too. But wait until you get to season 7, where they really step up on that, you'll notice it immediately.

On Elena embracing the vampire in her, thinking that is awesome. I don't think it's Damon influence, I think is Elena finally be free to express herself, her true personality. Before she was a little lost traumatised kid, scared not to please everybody, acting according to others expectations of her. Now she doesn't care about that anymore, she is an adult, and she does just what she feels right for herself and she is stands behind her choices 100%. That is because of Damon brought it out of her, for sure, but it was there in the first place. You know when you are with the right person is when that person bring out h who you really are and relish it. That is one of the main reasons why she chosen Damon, he've never judge her, she always when to him for help because she knew she could be herself with him no matter what and he would be fine with it, when she say he has always be there for me, that is what she means mostly. He and her are very similar, him and her are the different face of the same coin, their personalities fit perfectly, both very strong when it comes to face traumas but6 at the same time very fragile and vulnerable, both reckless, stubborn, bossy, they knows how to have fun, both very passionate, they are so compatible.

Watching my favorite TVD reactor while sitting on the square plaza near the clock tower and Mystic Grill in Covington, GA, aka the real Mystic Falls, is something I couldn't pass out. Harry, I agree with how beautiful Bonnie looks in this episode. I am glad you mentioned the quality we see now on the screen. Once TVD went to HBOMax, I saw a better picture quality. It is noticeable when we see dark colors and dark scenes.

Thank you for explaining why Caroline holds a grudge toward Damon. It makes it easier with scenes like Damon standing by Caroline’s bedroom door. She didn't look annoyed or hateful with Damon since she became a vampire, a new version she likes about herself. Alaric attempted to kill her father but Caroline was not even mad at Alaric!!! She found a bit of good in Klaus and Tyler was redeemable but not Damon. It is illogical to claim that Damon is eviler than Silas, Katherine, and the werewolf who tortures her.

Harry Allen

OMG HELLS YEAH!! Is that your first time there or do u live nearby? I have to go sometime in my life 😭

Maribel Humble

It was my first time visiting Mystic Falls. I don't live nearby. It is 652 miles from my home to Mystic Falls. I live in Maryland, and Mystic Falls is in Covington, Georgia. When you go, plan it because the tours sell out in advance. There are lots of people during the weekend. The Mystic Grill even stop taking names due to the long waiting list. I will go there again.

Jeremy can only see ghosts when he is thinking about them and they're thinking about him. He wouldn't be able to see all of the ghosts that Bonnie sees because he doesn't know them. Also I'm not sure if it work before they passed through her to the otherside anyway
