My great grandpa actually fought in this war (World War II). All men had to enlist in war back then & any drafted HAD to go. But since this war was during Jim Crow/Segregation era it wouldn't be much of a stretch to say they would be considered disposable. Even from the Vietnam war years down the line (post segregation), there are stories from Veterans saying how unequal they were treated & how they were still segregated at their bases.

I'm going to keep being a Kol apologist, haha. When you say that Rebekah's betrayal was so long ago, you forget that Kol was immediately daggered because of her and then woken up in Mystic Falls. Barely any time has passed for him. And then he spent a lot of time trying to convince people not to mess with Silas (he didn't go about it the best way, but he was actually in the right trying to stop them), only to be killed and then almost immediately forgotten about by his family. So while his family has their reasons for distrusting him, he does have reasons for distrusting them/not always supporting their best interests in return.

I honestly feel like I need to do a deep dive into his character and what I am meant to know about him so far. The actor change has really messed with my head and I really struggle to link back to the old Kol and make an actual informed opinion of him. For now I am taking him as he comes and seeing how he develops in the present, Davina's blind faith however SCARES me cause I do not trust her to make the best desision right now 😭

Klaus has always cared for Marcel even when they weren’t on good terms like episode 1x12 when papa Tunde hurt Marcel, Klaus immediately checked on Marcel & comforted him when Davina died.. also Finn “never learned to love his siblings” I mean the way they treated him & kept him in a box for 900 years, I’d come back w/ a vengeance too and this goes for Kol as well
