600 The Wisdom of the Stone (Patreon)

Traveler! There is a statue that the humans of the Brukesian Duchy and their neighbors from the Dwarven Realms visit often. The stone was shaped as a monk in a lotus flower position. And a glowing fist-sized ruby floats over its palms. To this day, researchers still ignore who was the creator of the statue. But it is said that the ruby was not always there. The stories talk about a mysterious man who decided to leave his most valuable possession here, as a sign of humbleness and sharing. The ruby floats ever-since and people from both realms believe the statue to be holy. They pray and meditate often to cleanse their souls and minds.

But the Brukesian Duchy needs help right now. A group of problematic dwarves called the Ramblers have besieged the location. They claim the dwarves are the rightful owners and obvious creators of the statue and decided it is their right to decide who can pray or not. The Dwarven Realms do not care and content themselves with having the Brukesian humans deal with the Ramblers. Many people consider this place holy. Their beliefs and the peace the statue brings to their lives are true. That must be protected.

This is a level 4 delve-encounter that features a fantastic location, combat or roleplay with a group of dwarven extremists, and access to a strange sculpture that hides an arcane secret. Here's a low-def preview of this illustration:

Here's a close-up of the idol carved from the large boulder. It is a monk of an unknown faith that has sprawled its own myths in the area since the magic stone floats over its sculpted palms.

The characters reach this area from the south, the closes settlement is a few miles away. Now, no one comes because the dwarves have scared off most pilgrims and visitors.
