695 Zarveck County (Patreon)

Zarveck County, is a starter region to begin a TTRPG adventure. It contains challenges and missions for a Shadowdark party of levels 1-4. The county has gone through difficult times in the past few years after a new ruler inherited the position. Since she came to power, Countess Eleanor Zarv has proven to be a despotic overseer who taxes the farmer class and causes civil unrest in the capital. Recently, her outlawing of mercenary work has become the last nail in a conflict that may well end up with a civil uprising in Zarveck City.

In this low-tier Shadowdark region, the characters start as humble adventurers for hire in the capital. There are plenty of opportunities but quick work but the situation near the capital makes adventuring work difficult. The characters must pull their weight and earn renown in Zarveck County by completing quests and exploring the land. There are many perils on the way, from flesh-eating pumpkins in the south and rabble-rausing elves in the north, to a kobold mage threat in the east. If the party succeeds, they may become folk heroes in Zarveck County.

This adventure has been designed for Shadowdark RPG through their 3rd party license. The system is meant to be accessible to OSR players and modern players alike. Adapting the material to 5e or other systems should not be difficult.
