What's up, homies! Week three of House of the Dragon and we're still invested, still intrigued, and still excited to see what happens next in this story. There's a good balance of action and exposition happening at the moment, and we're looking forward to seeing how it all unravels.

Such a privilege to live in a world where thousands of people spend millions of dollars making nerdy stuff for us to enjoy together.

Hector, keep on invested in Rhaenyra Targaryen.. everyone else is.. well, shady acres.. you'll see in upcoming episodes.

Ben Jack

My favorite thing about this episode is how Matt Smith doesn't have a single line of dialogue for that entire final scene.

Just some clarity: Lord Lyonel Strong, the father of Breakbones, was not recommending Rhaenyra marry the son of Daemon. He does not have a son. Lyonel was recommending Rhaenyra marry the son of the Lord Corlys aka the Sea Snake. His son is Laenor the young man with the short white dreads who was riding the dragon. Rhaenyra is his cousin.

I don’t know if it was ever officially confirmed but the fan theory was that the Crabfeeder had a skin disease called grey scale. It’s a disease that was key to a couple of plot points in Game of Thrones. It is usually progressively debilitating and eventually affects the infected persons mind like a kind of dementia.

Myles Away

It certainly looks like it but that disease is also very contagious and can spread through blood splatter. So I feel like Daemon being covered in his blood sorta negates that idea.

As much I love the constant guessing and trying to make sense I wish someone was here to steer the ship a bit. But hopefully I can clear the confusion a bit. That scene where the King was talking bout naming Rhaenyra heir as a mistake it wasn’t because of tradition but instead that he thought he had Dragon Dreams. Which is very rare in Targaryens where they have dreams of the future in some respect. The King was contemplating whether he was too fast to name Rhaenyra heir as he once had a dream of a son who wore the Conquerors crown. However, the next day the stag not being white which would’ve been a sign that he did make a mistake naming Rhaenyra heir and it should be his first-born son. Instead it confirmed to him that he made the right choice after all in Rhaenyra.

Hector, please keep up the surfer bro speak when the dragons show up on screen 😂. Another good episode guys, I’m glad you’re getting familiar with the world and these characters…just trust the process and hold on for the rest of the season, all the character exposition is worth it.

Gurinderpal Johal

Oh and also Rhaenyra seeing the White Stag and not killing it is also supposed to reaffirm Rhaenyra with confidence and belief in herself that she will and be capable of wearing the crown and do so in her way.

https://hips.hearstapps.com/hmg-prod/images/targaryen-family-tree-updated-3-1665476410.jpg?resize=980:* Here’s a family tree for you guys lol…Just make sure you stop reading after the pictures to avoid getting spoiled. If you think 2 years was a big jump, just wait 😅

The King is suffering from wounds that won’t cure, homeboy is missing two fingers now on his left hand, where in the last episode it was only one finger that the maggots were munching on. All of this wounds plus the stress of King has him messed up and drunk outta his mind.

Gurinderpal Johal

Last comment I promise, the ending of this episode was so sick for me first time when I watched. A little bit of context, the King did send aid to Daemon however Daemon who has always lived in his brothers shadow and has always been belittled took it as a sly. That for 2 years his brother did nothing now he wanted to help so in a last ditch effort he did this and surprisingly it worked without any of the Kings aid but on his own and the Valeryons. Hope I’m not being annoying just trying to help fill in some gaps and love watching this show again along with y’all and can’t wait for the more spicy stuff later on!!

Not me talking back to the screen when you guys ask questions or don't know something lol

Here you are seeing that the king is...not well. You said he looks like he's about to drop dead, that's what most of us were saying at this point. He's in constant pain (physically) 'cause he keeps getting wounds from the throne that won't heal and that's why he's drinking all the time. He's a peacetime king and not suited to war and conflict. In the first episode, before all the conflict, you see him telling jokes in the council meeting and everyone was having a good time. He's a good time king where he's a personable and affable guy, but not suited to when problems arise.

Thadman

I believe Alicent (the queen) is about 18 or 19 in this episode. I heard she was a year or two older than Rhaenyra.

Ben Jack

I definitely think them seeing a family tree could be helpful. But as for the spoiler warning, I even realized I needed to close out of that one quickly bc with even just a quick glance to orient yourself the words were spoiling stuff from the books for me as someone who has seen the whole season. And I think at this point I think it’ll be hard to find one that doesn’t spoil stuff from this season. When the show was airing, HBO had a great one on their site that updated with each episode.

Aisha Kenya

Yeah, that’s why I said stop reading after the pictures to avoid spoilers lol. But this was the best one I could find that didn’t include pictures of the rest of the family

I personally love when you guys starting guessing and figuring out who’s who! That’s such a fun experience when watching something new especially with friends. And I like rewatching with you guys because I’ll hear your commentary and just think “Oh sweet summer child” LOL can’t wait for the next one!!

What’s so awesome is to see the different reaction from all 3 of you all. Like Hector how love/endures it Adam and Agustin enjoying it. I’m a huge GoT fan so I love it but it’s interesting for me personally because I get to see the different perspectives of people who like, love, or just watch it cause friends are watching it. Lol but it’s fun to see you all debate and enjoy this. Thank you Hector for still trying it out lol.

I think there is hefty nerve damage too. crabfeeder probably couldn't even lift a sward properly
