Am I trippin or we’re there supposed to be reactions or watch a longs for the Indy movies before dial? If not no biggie I just thought I saw it on the Schedule!

Ben Jack

They have mentioned how they already watched them. My assumption is that Adam had a TON to edit before his vacation and those just didn't get done in time.

Loved this reaction and watching along for the ride of the entire season!! Excited that it looks like at least Adam and Agustin are potentially on board for season 2. As Hector said, that was my hope while watching along, that it would win at least some of you over by the end. And if you are able to watch along live next season, HBO's site will have easy-to-reference, up-to-date, and spoiler-free family trees and maps each week that should make it easier to keep up with all the details. As you guys mentioned, it was interesting how much this show decided to take its time setting up the characters and this conflict, and really making the entire season more of a prologue. And loved the insight into the complexity and evolution of Daemon, and how the show really never does what you think it will next. Can't wait to see how team Rhaenyra responds!

I had a lot of fun re-watching this show with y'all. Totally understand where Hector is coming from, I had the same experience with Breaking Bad. Started watching it at the height of it's popularity but after a couple seasons it just wasn't hitting for me, and that's fine. Not everyone has to like the same stuff and it's awesome that so many people had a great time with the show. It simply wasn't for me, that's all that needs to be said; no yum yuck. I'm looking forward to season 2 and if you guys watch it here then I'll be here too.

I enjoyed the reactions for the most part but I think it'd be best for y'all to not continue the show. There's a lot of info that's getting missed because it was previously dumped in 8 seasons of GoT. And it's clear that, at a minimum, Hector's not interested. I rather you guys spend time on something you all enjoy, than spending it on something that's probably viewed as a chore. Whatever it is, though, I'll be along for the ride!

I'm gonna be honest, I bailed on watching these reactions a couple episodes ago. It seemed pretty clear from the outset that Hector had no intention of giving this show the time of day. No one has to like this but it would have been nice to see him actually pay attention and absorb the show. I'd say stick to the stuff you guys actually like as reactions like this just feel more frustrating than interesting to watch.

I mean if I only watched things I knew I would love before hand I'd be missing out on some of my most favourite films and shows. Like when you guys got me to watch RRR, something I would have never even have even considered watching and now I rave about it to all my friends. This might not have been your favourite to watch and react too but I appreciate the branching out and watching a wider scope of things. I've never watched any of the Star Trek shows because they have never really interested me, but I am looking forward to testing the waters with you guys, trying something new. Looking forward to the next journey !

Thanks Hector (and crew) for sitting in on a popular show that doesn't reach him the same way. Really appreciate the effort you put in for the entire 8 episodes despite not feeling it. The jokes and bits were hilarious between scenes, looking forward to what y'all watch next!

I appreciate you guys watching this show. I enjoyed watching your authentic reaction to the show and would love to see you watch more of HOTD and GOTG. To Hector's point about no true hero in these stories. In my opinion, the closest you will get to true heroe is john snow. of course the ending of GOTG ruins something for another character who could have been considered a true hero. but I would be interested to see you guys react to GOTG and perhaps latch on to someone like John Snow.

I had so much fun watching this with you guys! Thank you so so so much for jumping out of your comfort zone for a bit. I think you should definitely consider Game of Thrones. But as you know it has a lot of SA that is very difficult to watch. I'm huge fan of the show but you have to acknowledge this stuff. I have hard time watching it too. But there's one specific character, Sam, that you guys would LOVE.

Ben Jack

Also if you guys continue watching Game of Thrones content, the next spin-off show might be more up Hector’s alley. It's called ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight' based on a series of short stories (The Tales of Dunk & Egg) that GRRM started writing in the 90s about a hedge knight (a knight who has no lands and therefore just sleeps under a different hedge each night) and his young squire as they travel from town to town to compete in tourneys. Should be much more of a traditional 'knight in shining armor' PG-13 kind of tale very much in the vein of A Knight's Tale meets The Sword in the Stone. (Not sure when it will come out now that the entire writers' room is out picketing, but the original plan was for it to come out in between seasons of HOTD.) But also, one of the great things about the original Game of Thrones show is the variety of all the different storylines and types of characters. Unlike this story full of mostly morally questionable royals, GoT has loads of characters from different backgrounds that are easy to root for (and aren't involved in any incest at all). And some of them even do go on the more traditional hero's journey. It is just all happening in a grey world where doing the honorable thing, or the right thing, or the smart thing are rarely ever the same thing. But there are still people trying to be good (alongside the ones doing all the fun backstabbing and double-crosses).

Thanks for watching HoTD and trying out ASOIAF! I think it’s important for everyone to remember this is your first intro to this world….and to be honest it’s kinda unusual for this show to be someone’s first impression given how popular the books and GoT were. Just know that there is SO MUCH more to the history/lore than what you see just in this show. I’ve found that the more I’ve engaged with the lore, the more rewarding it has been because George RR Martin is so creative and intricate with his world building. Also, I’ll repeat what I’ve said in a previous episodes comment section. PLEASE don’t watch GoT. The writers ran out of material to adapt after season 5, and for what they thought was “edgy, gritty, brutal” storytelling….it was just full of excessive sexual abuse and unearned character choices. It deserves the hate/criticism it gets.

Martin

To Hector's point in the intro about their being no good people, I agree that feels true in House of the Dragon, but it wasn't true in Game of Thrones. The true thesis of GoT is that among the darkness, goodness and truth do prevail. Jon Snow is one of the best heroes ever written. His honour is never in question. It can seem like a cynical show with all the violence and terrible characters, but it 100% is not. You have to get through all that to earn the hopeful message that the show persists with. I expect truly good characters to emerge in House of the Dragon. I do think some people get a sense of enjoyment from the violence that other's find to be a detriment. Instead of watching Thrones just ask a buddy who is fan why X or Y was so great, and they will spin the tale

hector is a trooper for sticking this one out lol but i'm glad you're all open to possibly reacting to s2 when it comes out. however the incest is sort of an innate part of the a song of ice and fire world ESPECIALLY the targaryens and this show is all about them lol (there is a reason why they pratice inbreeding.) agustin is right about this season being a bit of a prologue, s2 onwards is the meat and potatoes of the story, s1 is set up for these characters their relationships and the story

I know I’m very late to the party, but I really enjoyed watching HotD with you all again. At times the inner fan of me would want to shout about the pieces you all were missing or when Hector would get sidetracked and completely just take away from the show. I know it might’ve seemed like you guys grinded through the show, I still enjoyed your reaction to it as fans who didn’t know anything! Hope yall do S2, I would say wait for it all to be out for yall to react to it because if yall watch weekly I fear you will lost interest very quickly

I joined the patreon after the first five episodes dropped on YT. I was enjoying Hector's lacadasical response juxtaposed with Adam and Agustin's cautious interest. There was a hope that everyone would start to feel some attachment to the characters in the back half but it turns out that didn't really happen. Still enjoyed the reactions. Can't tell you how many times I wanted to provide answers when Hector or Agustin would ask a rhetorical or clarifying question. The internet comments will always be iffy because people are usually just looking for echo chambers of their opinions but I still think you should cover season 2. It's nice to have a contrasting set of voices among the endless devoted followers.
