As John woke, he saw heavy curtains of smoke wafting through his bedroom. He scrambled out of bed and rushed out the door. The smoke was rising up the staircase from the ground floor below. It was accompanied by a noise that sounded like heavy breathing or snoring.

This happened only about 40 miles from me and I’ve never heard of this case. Like you say, probably because of the coverage of the Dunblane Massacre. So sad.

Kerry Weinstein

The crime “fire raising” sounds so quaint.

On my himalaya app, the show notes for thisepisode are for a podcast on mother Teresa 🤔😳

Tanya Jo

Another great episode. Love this podcast!!

Casefile

That's must be an error on the app. Maybe restarting it will help? Let us know Jacqui.

James Franey

Well done on the episode. I can’t believe how many cases involve shockingly bad investigations. Sometimes you can say things were missed for various reasons but this...Pursuing a 12/13 year old is shocking. And ignoring a hammer in the murders car ? Beggars belief!

Does anybody know where to find the Crime Watch UK coverage of this case? It sounds like an older episode from around that time.

Maya George

“It was short, but it was a pleasure” 😭😭😭

This case makes me so sick. Why this man's criminal record and alibi were so blithely accepted is beyond me. Proof that sexual assaults with male or female victims - needs to be taken more seriously. The poor brothers... and the fake diary entries! What the actual fuck! Casefile, great job covering this sickening case. I'm just so sorry for all the victims of this perpetrator.
