PSA: Apple Pricing Nonsense (Patreon)

Hey everyone! I dunno if Patreon has emailed you, or if you've seen another artist post about this already - but as a creator I got an email this afternoon warning me about iOS Price Changes.

The short of it seems to be that if you pay for patreon through the iOS App, any new subscriptions you make will be 30% more expensive. Subcriptions set up on web or android won't change. Existing Subscriptions are unaffected.

If you're someone who dips in and out of patreon support and uses the iOS app to manage your subscription then be aware!

I find it horrendous how all these companies think it’s ok to keep increasing the prices when everyone else is struggling as is. As if people won’t start cancelling subscriptions ( not just Patreon but like Netflix and Hulu etc )

To be fair to patreon, and kinda Apple, this is just apple extending their usual 30% fee to another thing. I should put my subscription prices up with inflation one day (that $1 base tier is worth a bit less each year) but as you say, it might put subscribers off

Apple being apple. It isn't the first time they've done this, ans probably not the last. Hope it won't affect you or your Patreons that much!
