This kind of felt like I was watching a reality TV show haha, I was engrossed! I'm kinda mad that there wasn't a nice, neat resolution with a bow on top, but that's not how the movies work :) What did you guys think of this when you first saw it?

Wasn’t I big fan of this when it came out, but tbh I’m not really a fan of the found footage genre. It’s mainly because of the camera is just all over the place and it just annoys me. I am however kinda glad Cassie watched this as it gave me an excuse to rewatch it. As in some cases when I’ve rewatch movies I didn’t like a second watch has sometimes changed my mind, unfortunately in this case it hasn’t 😂😂. I just think it’s pointless, the only good parts are when they are fighting the smaller creatures. But the main reason I don’t like it is just doesn’t explain anything, it wouldn’t have been to bad if they had a sequel lined up to come out a couple of years later. But the next film came out 8 years later and even though I actually liked that one as it was a good side story. But I don’t remember that one giving us anymore info to what’s happened.

So I saw the trailer to this movie in the theaters from the first Transformers movie and was genuinely curious. Being a Godzilla fan I was thinking this was our own kaiju movie. Hell I remember even people thought this was a Voltron movie. Even now years later it still is good idea for a movie. Some of the logic is dumb, like most disaster/ monster movies. The shaky cam did not age well but probably the only movie outside of Blair Witch I can tolerate it. Now the "sequels" are hit and miss but interesting. Now what I find more intriguing is the ARG (Augmented Reality Game) they used to promote some of the backstory and fake MySpace pages and vids. That rabbit hole is crazy and to a degree flashes out somethings but leaves you with more questions. Glad you watched it. I still think it's fun

Background on the monster arguably isn't important. Could generally be any big monster (w/smaller monsters attached) of any origin and vulnerable to massive bombing = same movie.
