Ok I am itching to finish some series in the new year. I really want to see every one of these!

This will be Poll 1, the top two winners from this poll will face the top two winners from Poll 2 in a third poll which will go live on Sunday.

Thank you for all the well wishes after the Lens update last night, trying to look on the bright side but this Flu is taking me (and Carly and kids) out HARD!

Here's to a much healthier 2023!

This poll is going to nuts right?

sarCC

Maybe the Hannibal TV series. Otherwise, no.

Jason Dolan

I kind of want to see Cassie's reaction to Crystal Skull but clearly Superman and Lethal Weapon supercede that.

Michael

None of the above. But maybe Hannibal

gas667

Hannibal was a little interesting until the end. Oh my no.

Kuskesh Haramzadeh

The Sum of All Fears has a lot of scary parallels to current world events. I love how they adapted the book.

brooke atkins

Cassie you need to watch red dragon before Hannibal. Red dragon is a prequel and starts before Hannibal even meets clarice. Plus it’s a great movie. Hannibal is so so. I don’t hate it like others do but silence and red dragon are much better.

aarswft

Lol it's always old people voting

RJ MacReady

I would love Sum of All Fears maybe one day :)

Benny Hubbs

Joe Pesci does some of his best comedic work in the Lethal Weapon series, starting with 2. *heavy sigh* he's the guy from Home Alone, Cassie (lol)

Will C

Hannibal is garbage torture porn. Please please remove it from all polls and from my memory if possible

Will C

Red Dragon is definitely superior to Hannibal. Although most movies are.

James1035

Lethal Weapon 2 is good and I think you will enjoy it the best out of these movies.

James1035

Minus the fact they changed the villains from the book it’s an ok movie. Harrison Ford is still my favorite Jack Ryan though

Joe Mallard

The series is so good, it's a shame they had to rush the last season.

Kuskesh Haramzadeh

I bet they can fit Harrison in an adaptation of the President book since he's aged. I've often wondered who could play his son. Maybe Ryan Gosling?

JL_83

you love Harrison Ford but can do without Crystal Skull, also why Sum of All Fears isn’t high on the list; Hannibal isn’t high up there either; you’ll probably have the most fun with Lethal Weapon 2 given your reaction to the first

Mingo Wayama

I guess then that at 76 I am not old. I'm not voting in either poll because I don't have a dog in either fight.

djKENTO

Hannibal is WILD!

James1035

Hannibal is an ok movie, I actually prefer Manhunter to any of the sequels

Brian Lowery

LW2 is one of the few sequels to surpass the original.

Brian Lowery

Would’ve been better if they had kept Jodie and gone with the original ending in the novel. She wouldn’t go for it, though.

Rue

If you never return to Indiana Jones ever again, I wouldn't be mad, Cassie. Promise! lol

Rue

The Hannibal TV series from Bryan Fuller is better than all of the existing full-length movies put together, imo. But yeah, of all of them, Red Dragon is probably my favorite.

Ian Cano

She needs to watch Lethal Weapon 2 with Carly. That would be fun.

John Cranberry

Lethal Weapon 2 is going to be a blast!!!!!!!

brooke atkins

Hannibal is a fantastic show!! But sorry not better than a 5 time academy award winning film. We will have to agree to disagree on that one.

Stick Figure Studios

Looks like it's going to be between GODFATHER II and LETHAL WEAPON 2.

Yann Laliberté

It's really not hard for both polls

Ike

That was easy. Thought I was going to spend a lot of time on this one. Lethal Weapon.

MovieMatt94

Okay, I have been WAITING for Crystal Skull. I'm hoping for it. And Sum of All Fears is good too! Another thinker, kinda like Mission Impossible 1. Can't wait to see everything coming up!

Charlie Chap

LW2 is totally worth it just to see Joe Pesci’s character.

Myles Away

You never need to watch Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. It's abysmal. Everything that is wrong with filmmaking is contained in that movie. So beyond academic purposes it's not worth watching.

zynjams

never ever watch Hannibal, unless you want a lifetime of therapy and nightmares

Robert Ciurczak

This whole thing is about the roller coaster of watching movies we’ve seen and everyone knows she would not like this movie but her reactions to this movie would be fantastic.. I’ve been hoping she would follow up with Hannibal and even more exciting to watch would be Red Dragon.

Wesley White

I figured Indy 4 wasn't gonna get much votes lol! personally for me, I'd say you should at least give it a shot, since Indy 5 this summer is rapidly approaching! don't get me wrong, Indy 4 has many flaws, but I somewhat find it entertaining at least, mainly because Harison Ford is still a joy to watch him as Indy, and there are a few scenes that are pretty awesome to watch, but I do agree that it's the weakest link! but hey, that's just me! really enjoyed your YT edit of "The Two Towers" today! hope you're doing well, much love and support🥰😁😉👍

rakesh

Still have a soft spot for superman 2 with zod and crew, but will go with the crowd for lw2. Hoping you head off to the synderverse instead....

Patrick Flanagan

It doesn't look like SUPERMAN II will win this time, but if it does, I strongly recommend watching the original theatrical version. There was a misguided attempt to "fix" the movie about 15 years ago (it had a troubled production, the original director was fired halfway through) called "the Richard Donner cut," but it's a complete mess.

Gábor Árki

I wouldn't call it neither misguided nor fix. It is the closest version that could have been assembled from Donner's original vision and they had to cut a lot of corners, like using rehearsal takes and reusing the ending that has been originally written for part 2, then moved over to the first movie. Despite liking many things in Donner's version, especially the tone being closer to the first one, I fully agree though that for a first time watch it should be the theatrical version, because that is the only complete version of the movie. The Donner Cut is not a properly finished movie and should be treated as a bonus material to see what that version could have been. I think it even says so in the beginning.

David Blount

I liked Hannibal. Guess I’m in the minority there.

inpham0us

Super easy to predict this one. lol

Mike Lemon

Superman 2 is good, but I would skip 3 and definitely skip 4, then go to Returns (2006) [which gets a bad rap. It's pretty good except for one story element.], that would finish up Superman, unless you want to hit some animated [Apocalypse (2010)?].

Seymor Butz

Darn. If I could vote for two. I love the sum of all fears.

Walter

I also love the addition of Rene Russo in LW3

Mike LL

I would agree. No need to watch Crystal Skull ever and one can ABSOLUTELY not trust Disney with Indy 5.

Happy Hanukkah

Trivia: Richard Donner is the director of both Lethal Weapon and Superman (originally). Mario Puzo wrote both The Godfather (famously) as well as Superman.

SRSChaos

As amusing as your reaction to Crystal Skull might be, I'm fairly certain making someone watch that movie is a violation of the Geneva Convention.

N M

Zzzzzzzz

Matt Rose

Before any of these movies...HIGHLANDER.

Happy Hanukkah

Highlander also has the advantage of being a one-off, so Cassie won't feel any need to complete a series. :-| (Best of luck to Henry Cavill.)

Terry Wood

There’s not a bad choice among those movie except for Crystal Skull, which was a real step down from the previous movies in the series. I still think it’s fun, but not necessarily good. Superman II was my vote. But Lethal Weapons 2 is fun, too. God Father II is the best film on the list. I actually like it a bit better than the original.

Bill Maurer

I picked Superman II because it is far better than the original. Lethal Weapon II is better than the first. Both good picks.

Kelly Marie

Yes, love her in LW3. I always like the third film the best in the series!

Mr Trick

Lethal Weapon 2 is the only one of these that’s actually good. (Well, Superman 2 has it’s qualities.)

Walter

...but...but... there are 5 Highlander films... :)

Brian McGovern

As well as Superman (infamously). I do not think a lot of what was written by him was retained for 1 and almost certainly not for 2. It sounds like the Superman Puzo wrote was more akin to the Batman tv series

Robert da Spruce

Hi Cassie! I hope you enjoyed your Christmas. Although, by the sounds of it, it seems you guys were all feeling under the weather. I hope you had a good time nevertheless. I have a film suggestion kinda out of left field. I just heard legendary Brazilian soccer player Pelé just passed away. Which got me thinking about the 1981 film Victory. It’s about POWs in a WWII prison camp. Who are made to play exhibition soccer matches against the Germans. Pelé is one of the stars in it. Along with Michael Caine and, Rocky himself, Sylvester Stallone. Anyways, if you ever do another sports Poll, maybe you can add it to the list. I hope you and your family feel better. Have a wonderful New Year!

Doug Cook

Godfather 2 is one of the rare sequels that is better than the original. That's why I recomend it.

Cole Jennett

Not sure if I agree or not. I think she will like it, but not sure she would enjoy it more then The Sum of All Fears🧐

Matt Rose

VICTORY is a pretty solid film, as I recall. Good call.

Matt Rose

I'll defend the TV series with Adrian Paul. The cinematic sequels all range from horrible to awful.

Richard Maurer

LW2 over Superman ll? Really? I'd take any movie in the poll (except Crystal Skull) over LW2.

Radwar

Sorry but Superman II hasn't aged very well. To me it's become more of a comedy because of how bad the special effects are.

Chris Bordeman

Most people don't care how good the special effects are. They're not bad for the era.

Matt Rose

it's CITIZEN KANE compared to H2 but it's still not a great movie.

_tragicmike

SUPERMAN II has a love story that I think Cassie would like. Plus she really liked Christopher Reeve in the first movie and also in SOMEWHERE IN TIME. I think overall she'll enjoy SUPERMAN II more than LETHAL WEAPON 2.

Paul Stelter

Given the reaction to Superman I, how could it be anything besides Superman II?

David Bunnetto

Any chance of finally finishing the Matrix trilogy?

Mary Alice

On this poll, I chose superman 2. Lethal weapon is a good series, I wouldn’t be sad if you watch that either. Indiana Jones and the crystal skull I was very disappointed with, but if you do watch it you’ll be done with the Indiana Jones series until the new one comes out next year. No matter what you choose I will be watching.

Mark Daniels

This is unfair. Superman II and Hannibal are two of my favorite movies ever. And Lethal Weapon II great. Probably quote it once a week. I hope you eventually watch all three.

Richard Maurer

I'd say the Lethal Weapon movies haven't aged very well, but to each their own.

Richard Maurer

Also, could people stop judging special effects in old movies against todays standards. It makes you sound silly. I mean, what were they supposed to do, wait 40+ years for special effects they didn't even know would exist?

LuMarq

I saw that Lethal Weapon is winning so I'll throw mine in for Hannibal- definitely a worthy follow-up to the original

Gunnar Rea

this feels like equal parts "we'll win no matter what" and "we can't win" pretty much every choice in both poles is worth watching at least once..

Just Plain Bob

Crystal Skull falls into a rare category of films for me: a movie that’s so bad it actually made me angry. I suppose that’s some kind of accomplishment since I’ve only had that reaction a small handful of times in my 53 years.

Just Plain Bob

Agree 100%. The Lethal Weapon series actually gets more Cassie and Carly “friendly” as the movies go on.

Radwar

Sorry but it's a movie that relies a lot on special effects and when they look bad to the point of being comical, it takes away from the enjoyment of the movie. Also I wasn't comparing it to today's movies, only on it's own merits. And this comes from someone who first watched Superman II when he was a kid. "I mean, what were they supposed to do, wait 40+ years for special effects", no, those were good for it's time but we're not in 1981 anymore.

Richard Maurer

First you say you were judging it on own merits, then you say the effects were good for it's time - well, which is it? In case you can't make up your mind, you were right the second time. They made the movie with the technology available at the time, the alternative being to not make the film at all. If you can't make allowances for the time the movie was made I don't know what to tell you, Maybe you just don't have much of an imagination.

Joseph M Sica

I can't vote on this. These movies are all good, but not great imo. If I had to vote I'd tie lethal weapon II, Hannibal for 1st and Indy, Jack, and Superman for 2nd.

John Cranberry

Lethal Weapon 2 is miles ahead of all the others in quality. Maybe Superman 2 is a closer 2nd.

Christopher Gray

Oh I am so sorry Hannibal is not a good movie, the book is OK but both make the mistake of thinking that we need the backstory of a horrible individual to understand him. The only thing that makes it somewhat readable is the images of Hannibal in old Europe. And the ending of the movie is laughable. I confess I don’t remember the end of the book, which says something.

Mike Lemon

"make the mistake of thinking that we need the backstory of a horrible individual to understand him. " Like Darth Vader? There were, what, 4 movies and 5 series about that?. When all that was needed was a simple, "Vader was seduced by the dark side of the Force."

Christopher Gray

That is a reasonable point. But there are many people that argue that those movies are not good. The OT would have stood on its own without more back story. I just didn’t need Hannibal, much as I may enjoy watching him play that part. I did not mind Red Dragon and the deaged version in that film, but still I don’t know that it made me care about the character.
