I really loved this one. It was heartwarming and special. I think you know by now I really love based on true stories and sports films and apparently Jeff Bridges! Would I have recast Toby Mcguire? Perhaps, but it was still a  pretty perfect movie to me!

[Full Reaction] Seabiscuit (2003)

Comments

Shawn Kildal

Jeff Bridges did actually play the President in THE CONTENDER along with Sam Elliot (Virgil Earp from Tombstone) Joan Allen (Richard Gere's wife from Hatchi) and Gary Oldman (the main bad guy in Air Force One). He would join your list of most beloved fictional Presidents for sure.

David Collins

Jeff Bridges was also fantastic in the mystery thriller Arlington Rd. with Tim Robbins and Joan Cusack.

This was a great reaction and movie. I knew Cassie would love it, and I hope she watches Secretariat soon, because she will really love that one, too. Secretariat was the fastest horse ever and the movie was also really good. Cassie will get teared up watching that legend of a horse.

Along the same lines of Seabiscuit how about another movie this time directed by Elizabeth Banks starring Keri Russell about yet another true story involving an animal yet again overcoming great odds.. 🐻‍❄

David Collins

Secretariat was an absolutely amazing horse. When she gets to it, I think Cassie is going to absolutely love that movie. Being the greatest Kentucky Derby winner of all time, I'm holding out hope it might get a watch on principle at some point. I saw a review once of the movie where the writer complained about the plot being unrealistic, how the finish of the final race wasn't believable. I just rolled my eyes, because if you've seen the real footage, it happened just like the movie portrays it. It's breathtakingly well done.

Great reaction to an inspiring film! I agree with other posters, the book by Laura Hillenbrand is also excellent. She also wrote “Unbroken,” the incredible survival tale of Olympic athlete Louis Zamperini during World War II that was made into a film by Angelina Jolie in 2014. Jerry Seinfeld also has a classic routine about horse racing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NIXAcTEffek

I have been WAITING for you to react to this one and your reaction didn't disappoint! The only way it could have been better would have been for Carly to join you. I don't blame you for getting emotional. I've seen this movie a number of times and I still teared up half a dozen times just now. I read Laura Hillenbrand's book which was the main source material for the movie and if I remember correctly, Red did see his family again. I really wish they'd included it in the movie. They lost touch when the racetrack where Red was working went under and in that day and age there was just no way for Red's parents to find him once he hit the road having to take care of himself. They found him again when he made a name for himself as a jockey. And the other movie-worthy gem they didn't include was that Red ended up marrying the nurse who looked after him in the hospital. Thanks for the reaction, and let me put in a word for The Black Stallion, if the mood ever strikes you.

Damn Cassie. You were emotional. It was my first time watching this movie also. Who knew it would be so moving. Great movie. Great reaction. This was more than just a movie about a race horse. This was a story about spirit and heart. And not giving up on someone.

Celeste McAllister

To answer your question about the jockey or the horse, for myself it's not so much about physical strength as it is about communication and empathy, how well I impress on my horse, how well I know my horse and how well she knows her rider, that's me! The five points towards trust method of training,in short it is both horse and jockey..

These scenes with Jeff Bridges selling and promoting automobiles reminded me of his role in the film "Tucker" about the visionary and innovative fellow trying to develop and manufacture his car design while being strong armed by the big established manufacturers. It's a good film and Jeff is great as Tucker. Definitely worth a watch.

Why is this movie monetized? The ads every five minutes make the reaction unwatchable.

Cassie Tremblay

Hmm.. it's not monetized on our end. It's just an unlisted video like all the other reactions. The channel we use to post on isn't even capable of being monetized. Has this happened before with any of the other reactions??

John Drake

No, first time I've seen it happen on your YouTube PiB patreon exclusive channel. Had about 4 ads - typical YouTube shenanigans

DWG15

No, this is the first time I’ve seen ads on one of your reactions.

Dana Regan

Plz watch Secretariat..movie about the greatest horse ever and even listed by ESPN as one of the greatest athletes of all time
