Cant wait for yall to meet 17 again, he’s always been one of my favorite characters but this arc makes him even greater

Jason Rogue

Never was a big of 17, but this changed mind. 18 was always a favorite, second 16, but 17 is pretty much nonexistent after being absorbed by Cell. Super did him justice.

Jason Rogue

You gave no idea how much I love how Piccolo deeply cares for Gohan. From wanting to kill Goku, to training Gohan and becoming his father figure. It's been so long since these two met up like this. Hence why Gohan wore Picollo's gi during the Buu saga then switch to Goku's later on.

Jason Rogue

Also, don't worry about the waiting for the T.o.P, it's the same when the T.o.P happens. 30 minutes go by, when in reality like 2 minutes pass in Super. So it's a double standard.

Jason Rogue

No flying only, as in when you're knocked out of the ring you can't recover.

Jason Rogue

I like these looks into different universes. Never imagined seeing Toppo in a three piece suit. Then again, they are basically heroes, of course they would also dress casual and formal like normal citizens.

Akka

Can't wait for the tournament. If you guys really liked the exhibition tournament and the arcs prior to it, I assure you you guys are going to love the tournament of power when it starts .

Shadowpunch13

I for one wish they leaned more into Goku being the villain. Goku has always been one for having a weird moral complexity, so I almost wish they had Goku play into the idea that he doesn't really care about other universes, save for the fighters from them. I mean the guy can barely protect his own universe. I don't know, it's just the whole "Goku actually granted the universes a reprieve" thing seemed like damage control on the part of the writers so as to not make Goku the bad guy. If Goku actually had a hand in endangering the entire multiverse, it would've also kind of vindicated Zamasu as well (not that he really deserved to be vindicated), but it would've made the arcs tie into each other a bit more cleanly as well.

Hayden Morris

About the no flying thing. You guys should know ahead of time that you'll see a lot of moments in the tournament where it looks like they're breaking that rule. It's explained that these moments are to be interpreted as "prolonged jumps" 😂

Knight Spearhead

I think the reason they tend to fly when fighting is the ground is so easily to be destroyed from there impacts

Zaid

I think you're right ken about the Destroyers being jealous of Goku which is probably why they are targeting Goku as they don't like the way Goku (a mortal) interacts with zeno even though they probably know deep down that they are in debt to Goku but don't want to acknowledge it as Goku is seen as a low mortal by them

JT

This episode got many fans hyped up for Buu because it meant that we would get to see a pseudo-Super Buu fight in the tournament. Hope the new Buu’s sparring match here got you guys just as excited as we were!

JT

I appreciate the scene that Toei threw in with Toppo pondering at the restaurant. Shows that he isn’t as overbearing and extremist every waking moment. That's something that the manga didn't do enough of imo.

JT

With the Pride Troopers being a primary threat to our team that’s mostly named after food, they’ve been given name puns that revolve around kitchenware. - Top/Toppo: Anagram of “pot”. Used to think it was for countertop/stovetop bc that man is ALL upper body. - Dyspo (Beerus look-alike): Play on “disposal”, as in garbage disposal - Casserale (the general): casserole - Jiren: Anagram for “renji”, the Japanese word for stove

JT

Nah, it applied to inside the ring too. The animators just kinda forgot sometimes, so it definitely looks like they're flying when they're "jumping" 😆

Jason Rogue

I guess more like they took out the ability to stay in the air for more than like 2 seconds. Except for the dramatic effects, iykyk. But it was mostly not being able to recover being thrown out of the ring. Since they stay pretty faithful when they do fight in the air. They're not floating for more than 3 seconds before they hit the ground.

JT

13:03 Do we really WANT flying cars? People already suck ass enough at driving on the ground

JT

17:22 So, we still don't actually have any confirmation on whether Dyspo is of the same species as Champa and Beerus. There's a throw away line that briefly mentions the resemblance later, but gives no explanation why they would be in separate universes.

JT

23:40 I would say that that's just a result of being able to play around with the animation of fighting and movement when the characters are flying. If you have characters on the ground then you don't have as many ways to position fighters between each other. Back in Dragon Ball, it used to take considerable effort to fly using ki at all, so I doubt that fighters are "more" powerful as soon as they take flight.

Ash

“I’m gonna take that neglected body of yours and whip it into shape”. If I may quote Cell “I know that wasn’t supposed to sound sexual.” I’m sure Piccolo could have said that a bit more smoother.

Shadowpunch13

I recognize it's a hot take but Goku has always been portrayed as a decent guy but with a selfish streak. I'm not saying he should be actively destroying other universes with a smile on his face, but any bit of "heroism" he has in DB is purely for selfish or downright stupid reasons (letting Piccolo, Vegeta and Frieza go, giving Cell a Senzu) for example. I don't subscribe to the Cinema Sins logic that character flaws are bad writing, in fact it's quite the opposite. Having Goku actually have to accept the consequences for his selfish actions would've been far more interesting than what we got is all I was saying. EDIT: If anything it's the fault of the OG Funi dub for warping your perception of how Goku as a character is actually supposed to be a hero. God am I glad we are past the days of "Maybe he can learn to show mercy and compassion like us" and "Frieza made me what I am today", not to mention the obvious "hope of the universe" BS and whatever the hell GT's dub dialogue was.

I thought the bit with the Pride Troopers was kinda funny cause it was like watching an episode of Power Rangers lol

k c

I was thinking Star Trek even though I’ve never watched it. And I didn’t really watch Power Rangers like that. I thought the color theme was cool and interesting, but I could never really build up the intrigue for it like everyone else.

J Sal

I said Power Rangers mainly for the corny aspect of it. The pride troopers in hindsight have a cheesy and whimsical element to them just like the power rangers did, but hey Star Trek works too
