So happy I'm watching new marvel with you guysss for once! This first episode absolutely slapped and I can't wait for each episode now

Seb, I love your reactions so much. You get into it and have really great thoughts as you are watching it too. BUT it's WILD how many jokes and fun things you miss when you are talking. There was a really funny Avatar reference you were speculating over. I'm sure you catch them in your edits regardless. it's not a critique, keep doing what you do, I just can't help but chuckle when it happens. Your thoughts are always so genuine! I agree, and I think there are a fair amount of others too, that this is one of the strongest openings to a Marvel show. Glad to be on this ride with you!

Which is why I think it’s always a good idea to keep the subtitles on! Edit: One downside might be that subtitles occasionally can spoil jokes or character identities, but that’s not a huge issue in my experience and in any case I think it’s a small price to pay for catching all dialogues, whether jokes or important plot information. And sometimes subtitles can include Easter eggs (e.g., Peacemaker)!

You should read the entire Marvel library before watching this show 😛 I agree with a lot of you that it really is the best first episode. I’m a nerd when it comes to Egyptian mythos in film, so I’m excited to see how much more of that they will incorporate into the show. Oscar Isaac is one of my favorite actors and he seems to be knocking it out the park so far. You really feel how isolated Steven is from everyone, so it’ll be interesting to explore more of that character and his mystery (along with Marc).

Some other random thoughts: *Ive seen in a few movies now with the glass/sharp objects in shoes. It usually has a religious (or fanatical) motive behind it, as it is a form of self sacrifice. *I’m curious as to whether Steven’s parents are actually still around, seeing as he’s just leaving them voicemails. This, along with his conversation with the “statue” man after his shift really just made me feel his disconnect from everyone and it low key broke my heart 😕

Not sure if easter eggs is the right term, but one example I can think of is that the subtitles gave funny names to the villain's (otherwise anonymous) goons who had a speaking role.

I loved this episode. The use of cutting to show how one personality, Steven, experiences his life, instead of showing what happens when he's not in control, is a such a great idea. It makes us really see how much that messed up Steven's life and it builds up suspense until we finally get a small taste at the end. As for the release schedule, I don't like the binging model, specially on a show with mystery. For a show like this, anything faster than an episode every three days would be too fast for me.

I loved everything about the episode. I am not much of a comic reader, but ever since they dropped the first teaser I was so intrigued that I got myself marvel unlimited to read a lot of the comics, watched a lot of lore videos and looked up things to get to know and understand this character. I've been an mcu fan since the first Doctor Strange, but honestly I think I might have found my new favourite Marvel character (along with Spidey and Strange). The idea of having a hero suffering from DID in combination with egyptian mythology is just such a crazy mix, I got obsessed with the comics the past months and now I cant wait to see what they are gonna do with it. Also Oscar Isaac is absolutely perfect. My thoughts on the episode, I really loved that we got only shown the perspective of Stevens personality, so the viewer immediately gets confronted with the DID aspect and is just as confused as Steven himself. Maybe sharing some background knowledge to get to know our main character better (obviously without spoilers, just basic information): The original "host" of the body is Marc Spector, and Steven who we accompanied this whole episode, is just another personality caused by Marcs DID and living in Marcs body/mind. Marc was a mercenary, hence he is experienced with combat like we saw, unlike Steven who is our lil scaredy cat. (With Moon Knight at te end, there are a few more personalities and one will 100% appear later in the show (I cannot wait for this one, really) so I wont mention more here). And @Seb yes, Moon Knight is strongly connected to egyptian mythology. The origin of how it happened, will pretty sure be covered later as well but for the basic knowledge, the egyptian moon god Khonshu made Marc become Moon Knight. Khonshu is the big creature with the bird skull we saw a couple of times in this episode (elevator, street), and Marc (+personalities) can get in contact with the god in his mind. So Khonshu is the deep voice you heared talking a few times. This was a little summary of the very basic facts about our new Marvel character without mentioning things we havent seen so far. Like I said I am beyond excited for this, and maybe this helped someone clearing up some confusion the first ep left us with^^

Yea at 39:32 directly following the reference to James Cameron's Avatar, Steven refers to the "anime" avatar (which like Mark said, isn't technically an anime)

I agree with you, this is my favorite first episode of any of the MCU shows so far. I'm so intrigued by the story and the fact that we've only seen the bits from Steven's perspective so far. Lots of gaps to fill in. And as a big fan of Egyptian mythology, history, and adventure-style movies, this show is very much up my alley. I'm so glad you're loving it! Can't wait to watch episode 2 next week!

There is a *very* cool possibility for the convergence of new phase 4 characters on the horizon… three in particular, one of whom we haven’t seen yet. I don’t wanna say for fear of speculative spoilers, but… if that comes to fruition in this series at least partially I will lose my shit.
