This was brutal not only for modern day standards but also Westeros standards as well. Robb and his men felt safe because EVERYBODY respects this custom

The song is “The Rains of Castamere”. It’s the Lannister’s song. So whenever you hear this, it’s not good basically. And you are right, Cersei was telling Marjorie how their family decimated the other family and they no longer exist. Most of us knew this was coming but forgot how bad it was. Don’t worry though! It eventually get’s better, sort of. It’s about get to super interesting next season with some big moves being made!

You've now seen the infamous Red Wedding...we all understand trust me! Take your time if you have to, but I hope you eventually still continue. That's one of the reasons I love this show as much as I hate it. Gets you so familiar and in tune with these characters that they can devastate you even easier. Even knowing that something bad is coming, you're never really prepared. If it makes you feel better, I wouldn't say the show will never devastate you again like this, but at least you have this experience down and you can approach the show as no long a sweet summer child, but a woman of winter! This episode is SO famous that it actually is part of what popularized the "Reacting" genre of videos. People wanted to see people's reaction to the Red Wedding so bad it became one of the earliest reacting trends on youtube. Wild.

The red wedding is one of the most devastating episodes in game of thrones. Rob was warn not to make any deals with WALDER FREY especially if you don't go thru with it. Yes that song represents house of Lannister that's why Catelyn was suspicious the whole time especially when she heard the song. This was one of the most talked about episode in tv history so far.

In the maiden and the bear scene when Jaime rescues Brienne they also play the song which makes me happy because despite there being so much bad about the Lannisters there's still Tyrion and Jaime trying to be good

I think you pretty much reacted the same way as the rest of the world when that episode came out. It's shocking yes, but honestly, that is some well written drama. If something in a show makes you feel this much, it means it was well done. Probably one of the most infamous episodes of a TV-show ever. Yeah, the Starks gets some rough treatment through the seasons, not going to lie. Some other houses as well. I think in the end you will be fairly satisfied by how it all turns out. I do hope you stick with it, the show is so good and re-watching it with you is a real blast!

When I watched this the first time I believed that somehow Arya could get to them with Rob's Dire Wolf and save the day, and then I remembered it was episode 9 and I lost it yelling the same thing about being done with the show when they shot the wolf (I love animals more than people most days). Then I yelled myself hoarse telling Catelyn to grab a torch off the wall or a candle and set fire to the table cloths & tables so that everyone would open the doors to escape the fire and maybe in the chaos of that they could escape. I just couldn't believe they would kill Catelyn. But...she just grabbed a daughter/girl that Walder Fray had already shown he doesn't give two Fs for and it all went down. As a daughter who thinks family is everything myself, the final thought I had was that the Arya that will get forged through these horrific tragedies is going to become something they've never seen before. They know not what they have done.

About the bedding bit specifically- its taken from history. When royals etc would marry it was custom on the wedding night to have proof of consummation. So yeah, basically the family would watch the new bride and groom have sex to ensure the future of the line lol Also yes The Rains of Castamere is the music piece. Spot on with remembering the conversation with Cersei cuz its meant to foreshadow this whole bit. Its a haunting piece of music if you listen to the whole thing.

The song is called reigns of Castamere which is the house they weee talking about. I also believe you’ll find out lord Boltons motives in the coming episodes.
