Sett Chapter 10: Yukino Experience (Patreon)

After coming out of the bathroom, Hiratsuka Shizuka walked over to the sofa and sat down next to Higashino Tadashi, allowing him to wrap his arms around her and start acting playful.
"You’re being awfully forward today," Tadashi remarked, surprised as he looked at her.
"Today is the last day of the holiday," Shizuka said slowly. "Tomorrow, I have to go back to work and teach, so don’t even think about doing anything tonight!"
"Huh?" Tadashi immediately felt disappointed.
He was full of energy, in the prime of youth, and now Shizuka would be busy with work? What was he supposed to do?
"So, whatever you want to do… do it now," Shizuka said, turning her head away, her face flushed with embarrassment.
This shy expression made Tadashi’s heart race. Clearly, his "technique" had been quite effective.
Shizuka, who usually maintained her image as a strict teacher, aunt-like, and responsible older sister, had been completely conquered by him!
"Well, no time to waste then. Let’s get started."
Tadashi held her close and led her to the bedroom.
Blushing, Shizuka buried her face in his chest, looking like an obedient newlywed bride.
…
The next morning, the alarm clock rang.
Shizuka woke up feeling refreshed, dressed in her professional attire, and left for Sobu High to start her day of teaching.
Meanwhile, Tadashi slept in until mid-morning before lazily getting out of bed.
He decided to take a stroll and then treat himself to lunch at a fancy restaurant.
*Boom!*
*Boom!*
*Boom!*
As Tadashi walked, he casually swung his fists, and along the way, he obliterated several cursed spirits and ghostly beings that crossed his path.
Most of them fled as soon as they saw him.
Tadashi didn’t bother to chase them—there were too many of these things roaming around, no need to hunt them down.
Besides, dealing with cursed spirits and ghosts had its risks. What if something went wrong?
【Ding!】
【Congratulations, host has leveled up to Level 2.】
【You have earned one skill point!】
"Huh?"
Tadashi paused, opening his status panel.
---
Template: Sett
Level: 2
Skills: Pit Grit (Passive), Knuckle Down (Level 1)
Skill Points: 1
---
Tadashi suddenly remembered that his system had a leveling feature.
When he first unlocked the Sett template, he was Level 1 and had one free skill point, which he had invested in *Knuckle Down*.
Now that he had leveled up to Level 2, he earned another skill point.
However, Tadashi didn’t use it right away.
Anyone familiar with Sett knew that his build favored maxing *W* first, followed by *Q*.
Tadashi decided to hold onto his skill point until he unlocked the *W* skill, *Haymaker*, and then invest the point there.
"Not bad, not bad."
Tadashi rubbed his chin and began deliberately hunting down more ghosts and cursed spirits.
However, the moment these creatures sensed that Tadashi wasn’t someone to be trifled with, they fled like rabbits.
By noon, despite his efforts, Tadashi hadn’t managed to level up to Level 3.
…
At Sobu High.
In the Service Club room, a girl with long black hair sat primly, slowly eating her bento.
She sat upright, her figure slender, her skin fair, and her features delicate and striking. Her beauty was ethereal, like a pure lotus flower growing on a snowy mountain—untouchable, pristine, and cool.
At school, everyone referred to her as the "Flower on the Peak."
"Ah… ah-choo…"
But today, the girl wasn’t in her usual sharp and composed state.
Her normally clear and piercing eyes were now drowsy, with dark circles under them.
It was obvious she hadn’t slept well.
Yukinoshita Yukino was barely able to stay awake, her eyelids drooping as if she might fall asleep at any moment.
*Bang!*
Suddenly, the clubroom door swung open without warning.
"!!"
Yukino jolted awake, instantly alert.
She looked toward the door and saw a lively young woman with a bright smile striding into the room.
"Yo, Yukino! How was your holiday?" Hiratsuka Shizuka called out cheerfully. Then she suddenly paused, glancing back at the door with a sheepish smile. "Oops, forgot to knock again. Sorry, I’ll remember next time."
Yukino: "..."
She was almost speechless at this point.
If it were any other day, Yukino would have sarcastically chided Shizuka for her lack of manners.
But today, feeling unusually tired, Yukino let it go and remained silent, continuing to eat her lunch.
"Wait, did you not sleep well last night?" Shizuka asked, noticing the dark circles under Yukino’s eyes.
"Mm… something happened," Yukino muttered vaguely, a flash of hesitation crossing her eyes.
She wanted to confide in Shizuka but hesitated.
After all, what she had experienced was a supernatural event.
‘Would Ms. Hiratsuka even believe me?’ Yukino wondered. ‘In today’s world, talking about ghosts would make people think I’m crazy.’
Three days ago, she had found a dead kitten.
She had buried it in a park.
But since then, strange things had been happening.
Her body constantly felt cold…
She had nightmares every night…
And she kept hearing the eerie sound of a cat wailing—only she could hear it.
And it was getting worse.
Last night, she had barely slept for an hour before waking up, unable to sleep again.
A deep sense of unease gripped her.
Even though there was nothing around, it felt like something malevolent was lurking in the shadows, watching her with a predatory gaze.
It felt like a beast waiting for the right moment to devour her whole.
