*after editing this one I have some additional thoughts that I will add to next week's intro!

Laura Dawson

I love the way Dawes speaks. He’s so charismatic and he works out so quickly how to appeal to each person. Such a powerful individual and it always feels like he has an ulterior motive whatever he does. Also love that we start seeing more of Amos’ layers in this one. Another interesting character - although let’s face it, they’re all interesting!

Lady Beyond The Wall

Poor Gunny. Lots of her scenes this episode make me tear up, no matter how many times I watch it! It's so sad, and very very frustrating watching these asshats attempt to tell her what she saw and did. But at least we see the possibility that no matter how much she wants Earth and Mars to go to war, she doesn't seem to want to lie to get there. Getting some interesting stuff with Amos now, too! I love how long it takes to get to know him, or anything about him really other than what you see. Makes it feel more real - it WOULD take a long time to get to know someone like Amos and anything about his past if he were a real person.

There was some oddities with the Amazon subs this episode. At the start they subbed Eros as Earth. And when Dawes was talking with Holden he said that Holden reminded him of someone, but without the hat (we all know who that is). But Amazon subbed "hat" as "heart".

And the various speeches (from both Fred and Dawes) in that OPA meeting early in the episode there are some pretty big ones as well. Dawes says that Holden is an optimist "like Fred" but it's captioned as "my friend." And Fred says that Earth knows the rot is coming from its house, but it's captioned as the "wrath" is coming from its house. And I thin there's at least one more, but it's escaping me at the moment. I think the regular captioning person must have been on vacation when they did this one.

Agreed! She didn't seem like she wanted to lie, but so interesting that her commanding officers want her to. I have thoughts. GREAT point about it would take a long time to get to know someone like Amos!

After Dawes disappeared halfway through the first season, there was some question about whether they'd had some issues holding onto Jared Harris. But whatever may have happened, I was very glad to see him come back here. One of those actors who always has a bit of a different way of approaching a role than you'd expect, and finding the humanity inside.

I am so impressed with Frankie Adams' acting in this episode. She has to be polite with the chaplain when it seems everyone is just gaslighting her for unknown reasons! She is great with the non verbals just trying to show her impatience and yet keeping her calm.
