Murtry is in charge because the actual guy who was in charge died in the shuttle explosion.

Another small change in the opening this episode. In the shot of the colony ships flying by Saturn's rings, there is now a new ship, the Sinon, flying in the opposite direction. Another ship heading towards the ring was removed from the shot, presumably to make room for the Sinon.

Is it just me that finds it interesting that every time tensions rise in the settlement, some natural phenomenon gets in the way? In episode 1 it was the swarm. This time the lightning. Also, I would have let Amos shoot Murtry.

It is interesting! It does seem unlikely, but it happened TWICE. If Amos had shot Murtry there's at least 3 belters who would still be alive.
