Disintegrity 42 remade + 36 HD (Patreon)

So first off, 36 in HD !

Now to 42, which took me a while to redo since... it's completely redone once again. Not a single line of the original remains. Remember when I called this a "remaster" ? Yyyyyyeah, good times.


Let's go through the changes anyway. First two panels of old 42 were reorganized. It was pretty hard to tell what was going on on that second panel in particular because IT DRAWN BAD. I wouldn't say new panel 1 is all that understandable either but new panel 3 makes it pretty clear anyway so it's fine.

The page was reorganized like this for a few reasons. 

-For wan, it's just boring to look at originally. It's just a bunch of losanges in a row. Nothing special. It looks like a comic but... that's about it. Nothing special about it. No style to the layout in itself except for how crooked it is but that's pretty much the norm for me. 

-For tuh, those upper panels didn't show anything that needed panels to be presented with the same importance as the panels below so they got shrunken down a bit and the action was reframed.

-For thlyh, it just flows better. I think. Probably.


Old panel 3/new panel 2 are basically the same. The panel's border just look cooler.


Last panel stays close as well, altho it's not as tightly framed anymore so it just feels less cramped. Larsen's expression was also changed to be a little more grumpy. It just fits him beter yaknow.


So yeah. Its definitely one of those that took me by surprise cos before the remaking process it's not like I gave two thoughts about that page but as soon as I started it got obvious that I couldn't just redraw over the old and call it a day.

these are really good. fuck i love this story. zee was not my fav before but hes cute now too, larsen just looks even more amazing. superb sir!

Oh also I lied. The bottom left pins that are now transparent are actually using a bunch of the linework from the original page. They're in the exact position they were after all. I forgot to talk about it. Point is, I made it transparent cos I didn't want it to break the flow of the page yet I still wanted to keep it in cos I like the way it styles the opening of Larsen's shirt. Now it's more of a background element rather than a distracting protrusion at the bottom of a panel.

Awesome work as always RVB. The first two panels in the original really confused me. Like I knew Zee was trying to get frisky, but the only thing that really clued me into that was the Fondl Fondl. When I would actually look at the panels, I had no idea what was actually happening physically. I love the hearts that are bubbling up out of the floor in the new panel 2. Cute. And I'm glad the last panel has more space to take it all in, and I like the facial expression for Larson. All good things. I will say though, I do miss the line about Zee wanting to touch Larson. It was so sweet and innocent (even the kind of cringey 'Gosh!' was cute). Now Zee kind of seems lie a Casanova. "Lets get rid of this" while expertly undoing Larson's buttons. Definitely a small change and I'm definitely overthinking it. As a new page on its own, I wouldn't even think twice about it, but with the old page as reference, I feel like some innocence was lost. Even though they're both about to lose their innocence big time in upcoming pages ;)

Great work! Actually, I didn't understand much of the old page visually (agree with Jarrod): too thick lines, too much zoom in too small panels, just abit too chaotic for my visual system. Now with the new version, I finally see the details of what's going on. Thank you for that. I know, I say this too often, but still: I'm very fond of that you lost those pearly tears. I still am worried about all those open safety pins dancing around between two clashing bodies, but there's something else which is clearer in this version and which I am wondering about: those lines on Larsen's chest look like the scars of a huge surgery; is there a backstory or maybe they're just tattoos?

you know dude, aside from your skills as an illustrator, you've also really improved as a storyteller. these pages in particular are pretty striking examples of that. why u so gud?
