Happy Saturday!

I was reeeeeally hoping I'd have time to get a new drawing done for y'all by the weekend, but this week slammed me hard. Just a hodgepodge of wintery things, school functions, household surprises and diligently working to get extra pages of Moonlit Spiral colored before Christmas so I can optimistically take the last week of the year off before plunging into the final third of book. I think the holiday jingle goes something like, "🎶 It's the moooost busiest tiiiiime of the yeeear!!! 🎶" Yes. It's definitely that.

Then I thought about the latter thing on that above list and I was like, "Hey! I was working on Moonlit all week. Why don't I just share some of that?" So here's a little six page snippet from the chapter I'm currently coloring! This is about midway through the book as our characters are about to enter this sort of enclosed, village-like market (something coincidently I'm about to go to with my family in a couple hours). I would suggest perhaps quickly glancing at the pages and trying not read anything if you want to avoid spoilers. I don't think there's anything in here that ruins any big surprises though.

I also realize, looking at these now, this is a sequence where the characters are just standing around simply talking to each other. There's more in the book than just that, I swear! I am pretty happy with the color scheme I choose. Lots of greens and oranges making for a warm and inviting feel. I did something similar in the fourth Cleo book.

Realize reading a bunch of unfamiliar characters halfway though an even more unfamiliar story isn't the most exciting weekend post for a lot of you, but hopefully it's nice to see a little bit of what's keeping me creatively attached to my Cintiq these days. I still fear this book will be the end of my graphic novel career. It's not superhero or sci-fi... it's not even really a fantasy. It's just it's own weird little adventure I thought my wife and kids would enjoy reading. Crossing my fingers they aren't the only ones.

Anyhoo, I've got tomorrow off and hope to use part of the day to do some just-for-fun drawing. So expect some new art later in the week!

Poirot Inn? Agatha? I see what you did there. The story looks intriguing, and the small snippets of the character’s personalities we get to see here have got me hooked. I look forward to buying it when it comes out.
