Footloose is a wonderful film of the 80s: The music, the acting, the dance moves were great. Sure, the film has some flaws, but it is still a lot of fun. Also, it is not as far-fetched as you might think for small, isolated towns in the U.S. to have officially banned dancing. The small town of Footloose was loosely based on Elmore City, Oklahoma, where there was a city ordinance against dancing for decades, until a group of high school students fought for (and won) their right to dance at their prom in 1980.
