Watching this as a teacher is a lot of fun! John Hughes wrote and directed one of my all-time favorite comedies: Planes, Trains, and Automobiles, 1987, with Steve Martin and John Candy. Hughes wrote numerous comedies of the 80s and 90s, including Mr. Mom (1983), National Lampoon's Vacation (1983), European Vacation (1985), Christmas Vacation (1989), Uncle Buck (1989), Home Alone (1990), and Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986), just to name a few.
