I Have Confidence and Something Good were written for the movie. All the rest of the songs were written for the stage show.

"Flibbertygibbit is not a word." Flibbertygibbit, according to the dictionary: A flighty, frivolous, or excessively talkative person. Nuns, in that day, would absolutely see Maria as all of those things. I'm so glad you enjoyed this one, Ollie! And I'm glad you didn't find it too long or too slow. There are a lot of modern or younger people who do. What a great reaction. Now that I've seen how much you loved this film, I have to recommend you react to another older, beloved classic, Annie. I think you'd adore that one too. There are remakes of it, so make sure that if you do react to it, you do the original, from 1982. There are some issues with the movie, mostly with small portions of stereotyping, and it is dated, but both are because of the time in which the movie is set and when it came out, and if you are aware of them, I don't think it will keep you from enjoying the film.
