PSA: Collections & Tags (Patreon)

Hey guys, just wanted to write up a quick post for those who might use tags a lot and were confused by their disappearance yesterday like I was.

Basically, tags are not gone... they've simply been folded under Patreon's new thing called Collections. The Collections tab can be found at the top of my page, underneath my banner between the Home and Member Posts tabs, at least on PC. Not quite sure where it is on mobile because I only have the Creator side of things on mobile.

Regardless, I'm currently playing around with Collections and I'm rapidly falling in love with them for one specific reason: They're finally allowing me to sort a story from the first chapter to the last, instead of it being forcibly sorted from the newest to the oldest.

In terms of re-readability, or if you're just getting into one of my stories, this is obviously very much appreciated. I'm hoping it makes it super easy for people to jump straight into The Soul Engine for instance, even when that gets up to 10 or 20 or even 30 chapters.

The tags are also there of course as well, you just have to scroll past my collections. And obviously you can always search a specific title or even fandom via the Search Bar.

I don't think I'll be making collections for some of my bigger tags like Polls, Poll Results, or Poll Winner however. Because collections sort by oldest to newest and because the Polls, Poll Results, and Poll Winners are all very loosely related and not directly tied to one another, it doesn't quite make sense to me.

I also won't be putting any of the Poll Winners with multiple parts under Collections either. Instead I will continue to use tags with their abbreviations to group them together. This is because the way its set up, Collections appear above tags and I don't want to bury the tags completely underneath 30-40+ Collections.

So for the time being, Collections will be reserved for ongoing Story Polls and all of my Free Writes, both ongoing and completed. The ongoing Free Write will always appear at the top of my Collections list, while my Story Polls are sorted in the order they update in every two weeks. And finally, completed Free Writes go at the bottom of the Collections.

Hope this helps at least one confused Patron to find what they're looking for easier, and hope in general that people find it a little nicer to read my content on Patreon now that Collections are a thing. So far, this seems like an actual W from Patreon for once, so that's pretty exciting!
