{$5+ Patron-only post --> now available for all Patrons!}

Aloha Patrons!

(and apologies for the last-minute nature of this post!  quarantine life has been busier than regular life.  hope to see you for the lesson!)

I'll see you today Thursday, April 23 at 5:30pm Pacific Time for our monthly Live Lesson. If you click on the video above, you’ll see a countdown for your time zone. (Find all Patron events on our Patron Google calendar).

Tune in here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AQlXiUKJ7yU

I'll teach two songs for this month's lesson :)

With folks still sheltering at home, I wanted to share an extra song this month.  We'll work on "Bad Guy" by Billie Eilish (watch the music video here for reference), which is the Song of the Year for 2019 from the Artist of the Year.  It's a highly requested song on YouTube and I've finally figured out how to teach it.

We'll balance a new song with a classic song - I'll teach "Proud Mary" by John Fogerty / Credence Clearwater Revival.  I taught this song to my San Francisco class back in 2017, and some of you may have been part of that class, but I haven't taught it yet on Patreon.  It's a song that's easy to sing along with, and feels really good to sing loudly with energy.

A note about our monthly Live Lessons

My goal is to teach and arrange a lesson that is interesting for all levels.  I will walk through the lesson by starting with beginner-level strumming, and gradually layer on more challenging options for advanced players.

I encourage you to play at your level, and embrace your own pace of incrementally leveling up. You can re-watch the lesson as many times as you like.  Grasp the basics on the first go-round, and each time you review, you'll pick up new tips and techniques.  You can use this method to become a better student and better learner - by building more awareness and more patience. :)

Warming up with last month's Live Lesson:

We'll play through last month's Live Lesson songs (there were two!) at the start of our time together. Watch the March 2020 Live Lesson on "Make You Feel My Love" if you’d like to review.

Hi, Cynthia. I'm getting an error when I click on the video. It says to try signing in with a "G Suite" account. I have no idea what that means.

Thank you Cynthia. You rock. We have learned so much from you. We really like this new setup that shows the music, you, and the chat at the same time.

Omg thanks so much Cynthia! I love the Bad Guy song! Thank you for teaching us. I’m still new and will struggle but I love that you teach your technique and it goes so good with this song. Really appreciate it! Stay safe 😘

I love you and you give yourself to so many. My only issue is all the interruptions when people are tuning in and you stopping to say hi to all of them. You could find another way to say hi later instead of during your getting into the instruction,don't you think?

Cynthia Lin

hey alex! i do like acknowledging folks when they join (just as if they were to come into a classroom) but i can try to do the greetings in a more organized way for those who join later. thanks for the feedback!
